Turkish Airlines online check-in. How to check in for a Turkish Airlines plane. How long does it take to open and when does registration close?

Turkish Airlines is the flag carrier of Turkey, serving flights to 120 countries. Included in the TOP 10 airlines in the world. Turkish Airlines' main airport is Ataturk International Airport, located in Istanbul.

In this article we will talk about the procedure for registering for a Turkish Airlines flight on the Internet and at airports, as well as what difficulties a passenger may encounter during check-in.

Check-in rules for Turkish Airlines flights

Check-in for a Turkish Airlines plane can be done at the airport, at home online, or through the mobile application. In addition, there are special self-service kiosks. This certainly saves time as you don't have to stand in a long line. But with or other non-standard baggage, self-check-in for the flight is not available.

To check-in for a flight, a passenger will need:

  • Airplane ticket;
  • identification document (passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, birth certificate for children under 14 years of age);
  • foreign passport (for international flights).

Domestic flights

Check-in for domestic flights takes place in the airport building at special counters. They are easily recognizable as they are usually marked with the airline's logo. At these counters, in addition to passenger check-in, baggage and hand luggage are checked in.

International flights

When flying abroad, in addition to checking in at special counters, you also need to go through passport and visa control. Because of this procedure, the time required to complete all pre-flight formalities increases significantly, so you need to arrive at the airport with plenty of time.

How long does it take to open and when does registration close?

For Turkish Airlines domestic flights, check-in at the airport begins 1 hour and ends 45 minutes before departure.

For international flights, check-in at the terminal begins 2 hours before departure and ends 1 hour before departure.

Check-in for flights at special kiosks is available in the following cities of Turkey: Istanbul, Izmir, Dalaman, Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Gaziantep, Samsun, Bodrum, Konya, Trabzon, Kayseri, as well as at international airports in the cities: Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Stuttgart, Zurich , Frankfurt, Vienna, Nuremberg, Birmingham, Manchester, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Athens, Chicago, Madrid, Prague, Budapest, Lisbon, Barcelona, Nice, Hong Kong, Oslo, Stockholm, Brussels Warsaw, Bucharest, Sofia, Prague.

In this article I want to clearly look at registration for Turkish Airlines aircraft. I recommend that you go through this process via the Internet, without any queues and in a relaxed atmosphere. This will not only save time at the airport, but also be one of the first to choose your favorite seats on the plane, which is very important, especially on long flights.

It is worth noting that, unfortunately, online check-in for a flight is not available at all airports. So, for example, when flying out of Sarajevo, I was not able to take advantage of this opportunity. In other cases, she helped me a lot: you don’t have to rush and don’t stand in line. This option can also be considered irreplaceable if you do not have checked luggage, but only hand luggage. Then, upon arrival at the airport, you need to immediately go to the check-in and security counter.

Okay, let’s leave the theory aside for later, let’s look at everything using a specific example.

1. Online check-in for regular Turkish Airlines flights begins 24 hours before departure. This is very convenient; you register at home, even if you then have to go to the airport by train or bus across the country. Slowly, in a calm environment, and not rushing around the nearest cafes in search of WiFi.

Attention! If the flight consists of several flights, check-in will become available 24 hours before the departure of the last one!

To begin the registration procedure, go to the TK website, where you will be asked to indicate the electronic ticket number ( E-Ticket Number) or PNR code ( Booking Reference), as well as name ( First Name) and last name ( Last Name) passenger, then click Next >> ( Continue).

In this case, pay attention to the “ To start online check-in only for mentioned passenger please click.“. This is a function for those who have several people on their ticket and want to complete the check-in procedure only for the passenger whose first and last name you just entered. By default, the checkbox is not checked, and in most cases we do not need it.

Please keep your booking reference and e-ticket number confidential for your own securityPlease keep your e-ticket number confidential. for your own safety.

2. If you entered all the data in the first step correctly, you will be directed to the next page. It is used to select a flight for check-in, indicate the bonus account number of Turkish Airlines or another airline member of Star Allians ( Frequent Flyer Card Number) and your nationality ( Nationality). Please note that the Turkey Card ID field ( Republic of Turkey ID Number) can only be completed by citizens of the Republic of Turkey. Then click the Next button.

Please note that flights for which check-in functionality is already available are marked as Available to Check-in.

3. A new inscription will appear at the bottom. You need to check the corresponding box in the green box indicating that you agree with their rules and click again Continue.

I accept the above conditions and would like to continue check-inI agree to the airline's rules and would like to continue checking in online.

4. We have reached the step where you need to specify a seat for yourself and the other passengers. You can read about which seat is best to choose on the plane in a separate article.

As you can see, we have a diagram of the plane and a schematic representation of all the passenger seats in our class. White, empty squares are free spaces, and we can choose them. We select, click on them with the mouse and the corresponding place will appear opposite your last name. After this procedure, click next. If the flight has connections, you will be asked to select seats on other planes. Do it.

Once we have secured our seat on all segments of the flight, we can move on to the next page.

5. This concludes our registration. At this step, you can still go back and change seats, but not until your boarding passes are printed.

So now you need to print ( Print) all boarding passes ( Boarding Pass) in the corresponding column. You will need to come directly to the flight with these sheets. Try not to crumple it, as I did, putting it in my trouser pocket; at the Donetsk airport during security, the scanner only read the security code from the boarding pass 5 times, I had to be nervous.

Please note that without a Boarding Pass you will not be able to board the plane! Please don't lose these papers. To be on the safe side, I recommend printing out several copies and placing them in different places, plus taking one with you on a flash drive in electronic form (I recommend studying this in my article on documents on a trip).

6. Printing your boarding pass is done in this way: after clicking on the Print button for the corresponding flight, a pop-up window will pop up (make sure that they are not blocked by your browser!)

Click here Please click here to print the boarding pass to send to the printer for printing, and be sure to save it on the computer with the item Please click here to download the boarding pass. We repeat for each landing flight.

If the passengers have made the ticket payment via internet or call center, main credit card is required to be presentes during the boarding timeIf a passenger purchased a ticket online or by telephone, they will be required to provide their credit card used for payment as proof of its physical presence at the time of boarding. I’ve never seen it in practice, but just in case, I don’t buy through a virtual credit card, but only pay with a physical one.

7. That's all, actually! Congratulations and have a safe flight!

Answers to frequently asked questions

What to do with your luggage?

If you have checked baggage, you will have to check it. As a rule, to do this you need to stand in line with those who are checking in for the flight (even if you have boarding passes). And only some airports have a separate counter and even a self-service baggage check-in machine for such passengers. If you only have hand luggage, go straight to boarding.

I checked in for the flight, but I can’t print out the boarding passes; instead of the print item, there is Info.

There are a number of reasons why the service does not allow you to print your boarding pass. In such cases, you will be able to receive them during check-in at the counter, along with everyone else.

I bought a ticket at a travel agency and online registration is not available to me. This is true?

Yes indeed. Travel agencies buy places in “blocks”. You will only be able to check in at the airport.

Can they ask me for the card with which I paid for the tickets?

Yes, but only if you purchased directly from that airline's website.

Turkish Airlines flight check-in online

Online check-in for a Turkish Airlines flight is possible via the Internet or directly at the airport. Passengers with children under two years of age and airline customers with checked baggage are required to check in at the airport. To check in for a flight online, you need to follow the link to the official website of the representative and follow the instructions:

  1. The online registration process starts one day before the plane's departure, but no later than 2 hours before the plane takes off - register in a timely manner.
  2. A maximum of four people can register for one ticket reservation at a time.
  3. When registering, you must enter your passport details, flight information and a reservation code that is sent by email.
  4. During the online check-in process, you can choose a seat in the cabin and check in your luggage.

The advantages of registering in the Online Check-In system are obvious: registration can be easily done directly from the office or home; after arriving at the airport, there is no need to go to the check-in counter, since the passenger prints out the boarding pass independently, which saves time and allows you to choose a seat on the plane.

The instructions for online registration include switching to the Online Check-In service, after which the passenger is asked to follow a simple algorithm: enter the first and last name in English. To start registration only for the mentioned passenger, you need to press E-Ticket (a thirteen-digit numeric expression in the “Ticket Number” column, which is in the passenger’s hands) or go to the booking directory (PNR is a six-digit alphabetic code on the ticket).

Russian language is not available during registration. It is necessary to check the box that the client has been warned about the need to store information about the reservation and e-ticket number for his own safety. After entering the data, the passenger clicks the “Continue” tab, which, if all actions are performed correctly, lights up green, and proceeds to selecting a seat in the cabin.

The service provides a detailed diagram of the seating arrangement. Use the mouse button to indicate the selected seat - the passenger's last name will appear above it. Next, the system will redirect the user to print the boarding pass. After pressing the Print button, it is no longer possible to change the selected seat on board. The passenger presents the printed ticket at the airport counter before boarding.

Important!

  • Not all airports offer online registration; this information must be checked with the administration in advance.
  • Regarding the booking rules, you need to know that you can refuse a ticket (cancel the reservation) no later than twelve hours before the flight departure, provided that the purchased ticket has not yet been issued.
  • Refunds can be obtained in the country where the ticket was issued.
  • There is a fine for returning a ticket.
  • If your flight is less than 12 hours away, you can cancel your flight through the airline's service center. This applies to non-international flights. After the plane departs, the ticket price is not refunded.

Baggage and hand luggage rules

Turkish Airlines sets certain rules for passengers regarding the carriage of baggage and hand luggage. The requirements are quite strict and must be strictly followed.

Table 1. Free baggage allowance to European and Asian countries

Table 2. Free baggage allowance to North American countries (USA and Canada)

The maximum weight of hand luggage on a Turkish Airlines flight is always the same and does not depend on the direction and class of service of the flight.

Table 3. Weight allowance for free carry-on luggage

If a passenger wishes to carry more hand luggage, it will be placed in checked baggage with an additional charge at the company's current rate of six dollars for each additional kilogram. For any piece of luggage exceeding 32 kg, an additional payment must be made. For carrying bulky items in the cabin, you must pay the full cost of the flight ticket.

Turkish Airlines has strict rules regarding the contents of passengers' luggage. In particular, it is prohibited to transport cargo that threatens flight safety, flammable substances and liquids, suitcases with alarms and other items, a detailed list of which is available on the official website (). Here you can also find out the tariffs for paid luggage transportation, since the company’s prices change periodically. All transported items are subject to inspection at the airport.

Flight rules for certain categories of passengers

According to Turkish Airlines regulations, children under three years of age must travel accompanied by an adult. Infants under two days old are not allowed on the flight, and a certificate is required for a child two to seven days old. Children three to seven years old can fly under the supervision of airline employees without additional payment for the service. To put a child 7-12 years old on board, adult accompaniment is required until takeoff, and upon arrival at the destination, the minor passenger is met by parents, guardians, and authorized representatives.

Pregnant women over 28 weeks are not accepted on board. A woman with a shorter term must provide medical permission and a certificate of no contraindications to the flight. The permit is issued 1-7 days before travel. Passengers with disabilities board without a certificate or an accompanying person.
