Where did Cape Fiolent (Crimea) come from?
It is believed that this coastal area at a distance of 10 km is created by solidified lava of the volcano. This monastery was built in 891. as a sign of gratitude after the miraculous rescue of Greek sailors who were shipwrecked in coastal waters. A raging storm carried them to the rocks. Having climbed onto a small stone island, the sailors cried out to God for help. The appearance of St. George the Victorious pacified the storm, and they swam safely to land and named this place Cape Fiolent. The monastery on the edge of the cliff and the rock in memory of the Holy Apparition with a seven-meter cross are reminiscent of those distant days.
The monastery has an observation deck. From here you have a breathtaking view of the sea. A feeling of human smallness comes over us compared to this block of water. The piercing wind and rolling waves complete the picture and recall another meaning of the name Fiolent - “Furious”.
There are stairs leading down to the beach. It was built 1000 years after the founding of the monastery. The 788 steps can be climbed slowly. There are benches for resting. But, nevertheless, to hike in the mountains you need to have comfortable shoes and go down only on certain paths. An attempt to take a direct shortcut may lead to the need to call the Ministry of Emergency Situations.The size of the beach is 500m. It is clean and not many tourists. It is prohibited to rest with tents, and it is also not customary to make fires.
For comfortable relaxation, stationary canopies are provided to create shade. There are changing cabins on the beach. Sun loungers are available for rent. You can have a snack or quench your thirst in a cafe or bar.

Beach under the Lighthouse
To get to this beach you need to get off at the “Mayak” stop. The descent to the sea is very steep. The path is equipped with special cables. Rocks are perched along the 1 km bay. Lots of big stones in the water.
Avtobat Beach
The bus stop has the same name. There are two beaches here. One is paid. This is a small pebble beach. The descent to it is along an iron staircase through the rock.
The second one is free. Known as the most extreme. A difficult and dangerous descent along a narrow mountain path runs along a steep slope and ends with an almost vertical staircase. What attracts here is not the beach holiday, but the opportunity to dive from a height. At the same time, you can admire the beautiful grotto, which creates an enclosed bath in the limestone rock.
Caravel Beach
Bus stop "Karavella". This is a stone beach combined with pebbles, stretching for 200 meters. The path to it goes from Cape Lermontov, and further along the coast. Or the second way, as usual, is up the stairs. There are few people here. The water is very clean and perfect for snorkeling.
It is from this beach that a very beautiful view of Diana's grotto opens. This is a volcanic rock that protrudes from the sea several hundred meters. There is a through grotto inside it. Its width is about 15 m. The water temperature in the area of the grotto is colder, since little sun gets here. The staircase that used to be used to descend to this grotto was destroyed by a landslide, so you can only get here from the Tsarskoye Selo beach. Tsarskoye Selo Beach
It is located on the other side of Cape Fiolent not far from Cape Lermontov. The entire territory occupies 300 meters, the beach is covered with small pebbles. Access to it is free. A very successful descent goes to the cliff, and then continues with a 5-meter wide path and ends with a convenient metal staircase with 180 steps. The entire journey will take no more than 10 minutes. There are places with shallow and warm sea. It is considered the best place - the easiest way to get here is the descent is long, but quite manageable for small legs.
Cape Fiolent is located just 15 km from the city of Sevastopol. These unusually beautiful places are described in ancient myths. All the beaches are located close to each other, you can easily walk there, and sometimes you can even confuse one gorgeous beach with another.
Right on the wild beaches, people set up tents, stretch out awnings, bring boats on which they go out to sea, catch fish, pick mussels on the rocks, and spend their holidays this way. I think it's very romantic.

You can get to the beach area from the parking lot at the observation deck (there are signs right on the highway) - 800m or by leaving your car at the entrance to the Tsarskoye Selo station - 1.5km. Entry to the territory of the cooperative is only with passes. Local residents and tourists renting from them have them. But the passage is free.
A combination of wild nature and abandoned projects from the 90s
There is another famous beach on Cape Lermontov - "Caravel" . Once upon a time there was a recreation center of the same name nearby. For now it is a wild natural beach with sections both pebbly and completely rocky.

The beach at Cape Bronevoy often becomes a haven for tent camps. In fact, it is located in the bay between Cape Vinogradny and Bronev, but bears the name of the latter.

You can get here with your own car, leaving it in a spontaneous parking lot at the top or by bus from the 5th km or from the TSUM stop in Sevastopol. At the stop itself there is a shop and a small cafe. So, if you forget to buy water and Snickers, you don’t need to come back.
Where else can you visit in the vicinity of Fiolent
From “Mayak” towards Sevastopol there is the next descent to the sea at STK "Squid" , which is closed to mere mortals. But stk is not cool, so it was renamed an elite cottage community "Villa del Mar" . The place is controversial and not entirely “transparent”. But this is already a matter for residents and buyers.
There is also access to the beach in the area stop "Avtobat" , this is the outskirts of the western part of the cape at the beginning of Fiolentovskoye Highway. There are two options here - go down the stairs, or test your gut and go to the nearby wild beach, using a narrow, steep path ending in a vertical staircase.
There is no free passage to the first beach of “Avtobat” with a normal descent, since there is a door with a “golden key” and outsiders are not allowed here. This small beach is located almost at the very end of the summer residents’ village, near the Monastery (Fiolent) stop, near the famous St. George’s Church. His calling card is colored pebbles, which today are called jasper. True, this is not so, this mineral was mined on the cape earlier, but even today the sea can bring such a specimen to the shore.
Jasper Beach is fully equipped for tourists, delighting them with beautiful sea panoramas and intricate piles of stones. Cafe, rental of umbrellas and sun loungers, toilet - there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. If you climb the stairs, you will get to the St. George's Church.
Royal Beach
Tsarsky Beach on Cape Fiolent is located on the western side of the cape, directly next to the Tsarskoe Selo settlement. You will also have to go down to the coastal area via steps, although the string of them is much smaller - only 150 pieces. The beach is not very wide - up to 15 m, and the length is 200 m. It is completely covered with pebbles, and there are large boulders and sharp pebbles. It is better to walk here in special shoes. The entrance to the sea is not entirely flat. The bottom is more relief than on Jasper Beach. There are small cafes on the shore where you can have a snack and quench your thirst.
Lermontov Beach
It is located directly in the western part of the cape of the same name. You need to get off at the stop of the recreation center "Karavella". The cape slightly resembles the head of a crocodile, which is why it is sometimes called that way. The beach is picturesque; it is divided into two sections. The first is a rocky coastal zone, it is narrow and adjacent to the grotto. You can get down here from the top of the cape. The second is the beach behind the rock itself. The path here runs along the stairs (metal), and then along stone ledges. Getting here is not easy, you need to have a certain skill. But you’ll definitely feel the adrenaline as you grab the taut ropes that insure the tourists!
The coastal area is covered with large pebbles and impressive-sized stones; special thick shoes will be useful. The water is very clean, but the scorching sun will appear here only after 12 noon. The length of the beach is 180m, and the width is only 12-13. There are few people even at the height of the season, there is no equipment.
Cape Vinogradny – photo of the beach
This is a very small “wild” recreation area; you will hardly find tourists here. Those who love solitude often pitch tents here. The shore is covered with pebbles and stones. The beach is located in the east of the cape of the same name, near the Fiolent camp site. You need to get here by overcoming a steep, winding path, and there is a safety rope at the finish line. The length of the recreation area reaches 100-110m.
Mayak beaches – panorama, photo
To get here, you need to move to the western part of Cape Vinogradny (Mayak transport stop). The first beach - we turn left from the stop and go down to the sea. You will have to overcome several steep paths, and at the very bottom there is a steep ledge.
Second beach of Mayak - we move in the opposite direction. The road is less extreme, the path smoothly goes down. Along the way you will have to wander between huge rock fragments; the place is very beautiful. The total length of the swimming area at Mayak is approximately 450-500m.
Beaches near Avtobat
These places are hidden in the westernmost part of Cape Fiolent, not far from the military location (Avtobat transport stop). The first beach is not a flat coastal area, but only ledges in the rocks. But lovers of diving will have a great time taking advantage of the natural “towers” made of rocks. You need to move from the stop to the left of the military unit, passing paths and large stones, the descent ends in an almost vertical fire escape. You can do great fishing on the rocks; the sea is deep here.
The second beach is located to the left of the military part. The visit is paid, the descent is via an iron staircase. You come across gate doors that are locked.

You can get here by getting off at the Fakel public transport stop. These are private properties and not everyone can get there. A new village is being built nearby.

How to get to Cape Fiolent?
Fiolent is only 7 km away from Sevastopol, so you can use public transport or your own car. Regular routes of minibuses No. 24, 17, 26, 25, 20 run here. Trolleybus No. 20 is provided. There is a more interesting way - to sail to the cape on a pleasure boat. It starts from Balaklava every hour (starting at 8 am).
