It is difficult to find more beautiful panoramas than in the city of San Remo. After a cultural holiday in the capital Rome, I decided this time with my wife to go to this city on the coast of the Ligurian Sea. I will share information using the most convenient methods.

By car

Having your own car always gives you the opportunity not to be tied to flights and travel calmly when it’s convenient for you. If you have such an opportunity, then most of the route can be on free roads. This will not diminish their quality. There is a small section of the A11 highway, for movement along which you will need to pay 5 euros. On the map below, this area is highlighted with a bold line:

After this section, traffic passes along the coastal road along the Ligurian Sea, beautiful panoramas will open up. All other roads that are not highways, but related to highways of regional and national importance, are toll-free. Driving on toll roads is much more convenient and faster. The fare can be calculated

You can drive your vehicle 650 kilometers in about 7 hours on toll roads, and in 10 hours on free roads. and - the largest and most interesting intermediate points for tourists.

By train

Throughout the day, there are plenty of options for traveling by train from Rome to San Remo. You will almost always need to change seats.

As one example, I will give the earliest possible flight. You need to get on at Termini station in Rome at 6:15, located at Piazza dei Cinquecento, 1. In just over four hours, the train will take you to the city (station - Piazza Principe, address - Via Andrea Doria, 5). There you will only need to wait half an hour and transfer to the train to San Remo. The Intercity class train will deliver passengers to their destination (San Remo Central Station, address - Corso Cavallotti) in two hours.

The described option is the fastest. However, there is also a direct flight from Termini to San Remo. It leaves at 15:57 and can take you to your final destination in seven and a half hours without unnecessary transfers.

In principle, this flight is even later than the one that is suitable, so it is better not to postpone such a trip until the evening.

Buying a ticket

There are plenty of trains, as I said above. They can also be purchased immediately before departure at the ticket office. But it is much more convenient to make a purchase through the website, which builds routes itself, so you can purchase one ticket including transfers.

Ticket price

By adding up the two prices, the passenger will get at least 20 euros at the exit today (about the same price on the direct route). If you travel in a higher class, you will have to pay more.

By plane

You can’t get there directly by plane, since there is no airport in the resort town. But airliners fly from Rome to Nice and Genoa.

The flight via Nice is faster. From Fiumimino there is one daily flight from Easyjet (at 8:55) and two from Alitalia (at 9:50 and 16:30). There are several express trains per hour from Nice to Ventimiglia. Trains run just as frequently from Ventimiglia all the way to San Remo, so you won’t have to wait long here either. Taking into account the train time, the journey will take no more than two and a half hours.

I recently visited Italy...

If you have not been to this wonderful country, then, most likely, of course, you want to visit it, and if you have already been to it, then you probably experience an irresistible desire to return there again. Indeed, Italy is so diverse that in one trip you can only get to know it, but not in any way recognize it... This sunny European country amazes with great cities of art, impresses with the most picturesque coastal landscapes, seduces with crazy sales and, of course, is famous for its incredibly tasty and healthy Italian cuisine.

Italy can be visited using different tours:

  1. Excursion tours (huge variety of routes:);
  2. Holidays by the sea (the coasts of Emilia-Romagna, Venetian Riviera, Liguria...);
  3. Shopping tours (especially for shopping lovers, organized with trips to outlets, shopping centers and markets);
  4. Wine and gastronomic tours (for real gourmets and connoisseurs of Italian cuisine and wines);
  5. Combined programs (excursion route + seaside holiday);
  6. Tours for pensioners (organized in spring and autumn at special prices);
  7. Cruises (Mediterranean cruises often include visits to Italian port cities such as Venice, Rome, Bari, Palermo);
  8. Ski tours;
  9. Bike tours.

Having seen Italy with the help of an excursion tour, you can see several magnificent cities at once: Venice, Florence, Milan, Rome, Bologna, the Republic of San Marino, Naples, Genoa and many others.

My excursion route was as follows: “Venice - Florence - Rome - San Marino.” All the time we lived in the city of Rimini, going on excursions to these cities, and we spent our free time visiting the shops and outlets of Rimini, walking along the streets of the old city, visiting fish restaurants and tasting the magnificent red wines of the Emilia Romagna region.

I’ll tell you more about each of the cities I saw:

Venice

It’s not for nothing that Venice is considered one of the most romantic cities in the world. Having visited this city, you understand why it is rightly called the capital of romance. An endless labyrinth of streets, houses growing out of the water, gondolas, a huge number of world architectural monuments...

A paradise for art lovers and, probably, just one of the cities that everyone should definitely visit. Your journey will begin on a river bus, on which you will sail along the Grand Canale along the majestic palaces, and when you get off, you will find yourself in the central square of Venice - Piazza San Marco. In the very heart of Venice, watching the magnificent Doge's Palace, you will wave your hands in delight and... here is a classic photo with pigeons in Piazza San Marco.

Further, getting into the labyrinth of this city, you can safely follow the signs and come out to the Rialto Bridge - this is the unique oldest bridge across the Grand Canal. An incredible delight - gondola riding. Although it is an expensive pleasure, it is impossible to deny yourself it.

Florence

This city will take you into the world of art. Every corner is permeated with the spirit of the Renaissance, and the museums of Florence house the best collections of art in the world! In the Uffizi Gallery you can enjoy paintings by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Raphael and many others. Florence attracts tourists with its quiet squares, harmonious streets, cozy restaurants and shops where you can choose very high-quality genuine leather products.

Rome

A huge, beautiful and ancient city, full of attractions. You will never say that you know and have studied this mysterious and eternal Rome!

Our acquaintance with Rome began with the Vatican. Once you find yourself in this tiny state, you can’t help but feel admiration and admiration for the culture of this smallest country in the world! It is in the Vatican that the National Museum is located, where works of great artists of the Renaissance are collected, where you can see the magnificent Sistine Chapel. The huge and majestic St. Peter's Square with the Apostles is amazing. You can enter St. Peter's Basilica absolutely free. Inside the cathedral, the size of the dome, the hall, beautiful sculptures and stained glass windows are impressive throughout. The cathedral itself is huge: it is 186 meters long. Words cannot describe the internal splendor of the cathedral, so here are photographs:

After visiting the Vatican, we reached Piazza Venezia - one of the most famous squares in Rome, which is located at the foot of the Capitoline Hill. The Capital Hill is the lowest of the seven legendary Roman hills; it is also small in area, but very significant and important - it was here that the Temple of Jupiter Capitoline rose. Piazza Venezia is decorated with 3 palaces: the Palace of Senators in the center, on the right - the Palazzo de Conservatorio, and on the left - the Palazzo Nuovo. These buildings now house the Capitoline Museum with the treasures of Rome.

Walking a little further, you will find yourself at the Roman Forum - this is the second most important landmark of Rome, after the Colosseum. Few people know that there are actually several forums: after all, every ruler considered it his duty to erect a personal Forum. Now only a few elements remain of the forum - but these great ancient ruins make an indelible impression!

San Marino

An hour's drive from Rimini, on Mount Monte Titano, is located one of the oldest European republics - San Marino. This small proud state speaks Italian and has only a conditional border with Italy, but, nevertheless, the Republic of San Marino is extremely colorful and original! The capital of the same name has preserved all its pristine beauty and history, dating back many centuries, to the surprise of more than one generation of descendants. The main attractions of the miniature state are located at the very top of Mount Titano, at an altitude of about 800 meters, where three royally beautiful fortresses are located - La Rocca, Cesta and Montale. The complex of fortifications and medieval prisons (now museums) blends so harmoniously into the landscape of these places that walking through them is a real pleasure for connoisseurs of historical architecture.

San Marino has a duty-free zone, shopping here is wonderful: the best prices for bags and glasses, and at the entrance to the republic there are several large outlets: San Marino Factory Outlet, as well as two huge shopping centers - Atlante and Azzurro . Shopping lovers can come here for the whole day, accompanied by a shopping assistant, or on their own by bus from the Rimini train station.

It is impossible not to mention separately the delicious Italian cuisine: amazingly delicious pasta, pizza, lasagna, riszoto, seafood dishes and the freshest fish. If you are in Rimini, I advise you to try pizza at the “correct” pizzeria ROSSO POMIDORO in Rimini, eat fresh fish and seafood at the ZODIAK restaurant and drink coffee at the TURISMO cafe - Federico Fellini’s favorite place, he knew a lot about good coffee...
