Beaches of Budva: reviews, impressions and many personal photos. Have a nice holiday in Budva

2. Budva. Mogren Beach

The next day, June 29th, was my birthday. The date is not very significant - 60 years.
But before 17 o’clock, when I was born, there was still a lot of time and I went to see the beaches of Budva, Budva itself and Mogren beach, which I had heard a lot about.

Having passed through the tunnel, in which the history of Montenegro is amusingly presented in the drawings and a short dictionary in Russian-language pictures -

I went just to that beach with free wi-fi, which I already wrote about. It’s funny that the first time I didn’t pay any attention to the sign on which it was written that renting a sunbed costs 100 Euros. If I had, I wouldn’t have come in, I think they hung her on purpose to scare away unnecessary people.

But I didn’t notice her and went in. And then I spent time here several more times. Apparently, the law does not allow a 5-star hotel to have a completely paid beach.
At least in Bulgaria there is such a law - half or a third (I don’t know exactly) should be free. And then on the free part there are huge sun umbrellas, also free.
And a shower. And most importantly - excellent password-free wi-fi. And relatively few people (see the sign at the entrance).
Here is a video taken on this beach -

The title photo of the report, by the way, was also taken on it. In the middle of the video, the girl turns over on a towel, the same girl in the photo.

One day I was amused by two Russian-speaking girls who came up to my umbrella and asked me to move so that they too would have enough shade. Well, the fact that they spoke in Russian without asking is not at all surprising, considering that 90% of vacationers here are from Russia, Ukraine or Belarus. Therefore, this is the only country where, from the second day, I stopped speaking the first farza to a stranger I wanted to ask something in English. Switched to Russian. I’m just wondering if other nations usually do this or not - to invade a miracle’s personal space and ask to make room?

Well, then the creepy Slovenska Plaza begins. It’s creepy because it’s filled with more seals than anything at all -

The embankment itself with its cozy cafes brightens up the impression a little -

Behind the beach is the marina -

Well, behind the marina is the old town. I will not bore people with a bunch of photographs from old Budva. So, just a few and a few videos.
Looking ahead, I’ll note that back in Montenegro, during a trip to the towns of the Boka Kotorska letter, I became fed up with the old Mediterranean towns.
Not to mention the fact that I had previously seen a lot of old towns with narrow streets in Austria, Italy and Spain. In Montenegro, satiety overtook me in Kotor after Budva, Duke Novi and Perast, when I simply could no longer adequately perceive the surrounding beauty. Well, it finally hit me in the heat in Dubrovnik, when I couldn’t understand at all,
Why did I come to it and what else have I never seen like this? But this is a topic for another report. In the meantime, a little Budva.

He said “I won’t bore you” and posted a bunch of photos. Well, sorry. Maybe some of you reading this have never been to Montenegro.

Some boys are collecting money for walking along the walls of the old city. Somehow I was embarrassed by the young age of the cashiers and I did not pay them. But also continue walking along the wall.
From the walls of the old city you can see the beach under the walls -

and Mogren beach in the distance (Cape Verde, to the right of the boat) -

Montenegro, which is Montenegro, June 28-July 4, 2015

I didn’t expect to windsurf in Montenegro. I knew that in the beach area it wasn’t that big of a deal. Entry into the sea from the beaches is ideal, but all the beaches are given over to seals with their females and cubs. This is not Dahab. And not even Rio de Janeiro. And somehow it’s not blowing very well. Only once did the wind please us with its whistle in the chimneys, but only at night. Well, during the day something blew sometimes, but 6-7 meters and half an hour maximum. So there was not even the urge that usually occurs in strong winds.
But while walking through the old town of Budva and pointing the video camera towards Mogren Beach, which is so praised by travel agencies, I saw something familiar. Sail on the water!

But the sail still did not rise and I, suspecting something was wrong, increased the camera zoom to the limit. And this is what I saw (sorry for the hand tremors, magnification 25):

“What is this new sport?” I thought, “Tandem rowing on two boards with a sail? Original!”
And only then, when I came closer, I realized what was happening. There is literally no wind at all, the instructor takes the student out to sea, the student raises the completely torn sail, and the instructor pushes him to the shore.

That's it, the learning process is over, please go to the cashier.
And this is what the “surf station” and equipment look like.
The sails and masts are mainly made of g..na and sticks. There are also sails for patriots of Russia and Ukraine, made from national flags.
There is also one from the Montenegrin flag.
It doesn’t matter that sailing with such a sail is the same as sailing with plywood or curtains.

When I walked back from Mogren beach, a couple of students - father and son - were just saying goodbye to the instructors (and they seem to have a family relationship there).
Passing by, I heard the following dialogue out of the corner of my ear:
(Father) “It’s a pity that we didn’t contact you earlier.”
(Instructor) “Yes, you see, they teach in a whole day, and we teach in twenty minutes.”
I stopped to look at the wealth and variety of equipment on display, while father and son climbed up.
One of the passing holidaymakers asked them about the price.
The answer was “Fifty. But it’s not a pity for such pleasure.”
Then we were on our way, and I got into a conversation with my father. They turned out to be from Belarus.
I asked: “Did you just find out the conditions?”
To which he replied, not without pride, “No! We were riding!”
I didn’t upset them after my father’s phrase, “Now my son has an incentive to learn this from us.”
He also didn’t tell him how much his son’s hobby would cost him.
Moreover, if a person does not mind 50 Euros for such profanity.
Dahab advised them, educational films and our paths diverged.
This is such a “windsurfing school” in Budva.

These windsurfing charlatans even have their own website and they “teach” naive vacationers, it turns out not only in Montenegro, but also in Thailand - http://surf-tour.com/

The description of their “express method” on this site is worthy of the pen of Petrosyan, Chumak and Kashpirovsky combined -

"The express method in windsurfing is not a sensation or a fantasy. This is a wonderful example of the triumph of domestic science, whose name is TmPE (Theory and Methods of Physical Education), which unites a whole range of humanitarian disciplines (such as developmental and sports physiology, psychology, biomechanics , etc.)
In the development of the express method, three time stages are clearly visible. The first stage - theoretical and research - took place at the departments of physics. education of as many as three universities over the course of several years.
The second stage - scientific and practical - already required significant investments, and implied a correlation study of the scientific research done through practical teaching of windsurfing in various audiences, water areas and countries.
Finally, the third stage - innovation - required no less large investments, but this time in comprehensive patent protection of the developments made. Thanks to this, numerous imitations of the external side of the express method are now no less amusing and no more dangerous than a monkey with glasses for a professional ophthalmologist.
I express my sincere gratitude, first of all, to the teaching staff of the universities participating in the project, who trained an entire army of highly qualified specialists;
- all sponsors who found an opportunity to support domestic science and sports during difficult economic periods;
- as well as the direct physical executors of the project - sailors working in difficult conditions to improve your health.
Together, these people turned windsurfing from an elite sport into a mass one. And now they give this wonderful fairy tale to you in reality."

Enchanting crook! Head coach" -

Then another civilized beach, which seems to be Mogren -

I remember walking around Vienna with an employee (we’ve been in Vienna for 11 years on business trips). And so we went into one of Hundertwasser’s houses, the one with the museum. I walk around and take pictures.
At the exit from the courtyard there is a beautiful staircase in emerald tiles. I photograph her. My companion gives me her camera and says, “Take a photo with mine.” Well the first thought is
she knows that I have an idea about the correct construction of the frame, that’s why she trusted me. I take aim and hear an indignant shout: “Wait, let me stop!” Later I realized that for most women, a photograph of something without her beloved is not a photograph. There are, of course, many exceptions.
Just like those who like to “take pictures” among men.

On the way to -

This stone reminded me of the head of a moray eel -

Remember, this gesture is called “hand-face” or in the original “facepalm” -

I wasn't impressed with this beach. Yes, wild, yes, under the pine trees, but quite narrow and there are a lot of people -

Well, except that it offers beautiful views of the bay and the old city -

Well, another big plus is the shade from the trees.

The bay has standard water activities for bored tourists -

The guys jumped from a high cliff right from someone's gravestone. Here is one of these jumps -

The guy's name is Martin Juhasz, his grandmother is from Donetsk. He promised to post his jump on the Internet. I kept my word.

On the way home, I took a photo of a reminder of what happens to those who are very extreme -

(to be continued)

If you choose the best beach of all the beaches in Budva, then Mogren can deservedly be put in first place, there are several reasons for this. We’ll talk about this wonderful beach in this post.

Features of Mogren Beach:

  • Mogren beach has a sandy shore;
  • Mogren is surrounded by beautiful nature (forest and rocks);
  • the beach has all the necessary infrastructure;
  • Mogren is located next to Budva (5 minutes walk).

The post will contain many photographs of Mogren beach, there will be a short review of hotels and apartments near the beach, I will also tell you how to get from Budva to this amazing beach, and at the end of the post read my review.

Hotels and apartments near Mogren beach

One of the distinctive features of Mogren beach is the absence of hotels and other hotel infrastructure on it. The nearest hotel is located near the walls of the Old Town, which is a 5-minute walk along a narrow path. Probably the lack of housing right on the beach keeps Mogrem cleaner, in contrast to the same Slavyansky beach, which during the season is completely unattractive for a beach holiday.

Hotels near Mogren Beach

All apartments in the Vidikovac area are located on a hill, so be prepared for uphill walks, in return you will get panoramic views of Budva and the Budva Bay.

Tourists call this monument a variety of names: gymnast, dancer. ballerina, etc. Some tourists are convinced that this is a monument to a girl who is waiting for her husband who has gone to sea. But why is she naked and why is she in such a strange position for waiting?

There are several selfie spots along the trail, so in high season there can be traffic jams of tourists taking photos. However, the path is quite narrow and a traffic jam can form even with two people.

As you can see in this photo, the road along the sea to the beach is quite safe, you are protected from the sea by railings, and from stones falling from the cliff by a stretched net.

The path goes around beautiful rocks that have the texture of a layer cake and dives into the bay. In the first bay there will be Mogren Beach 1. But don’t rush, look at the wonderful view that opens from the path to Old Budva and Richard’s Head Beach. There will no longer be such a view from Mogren Beach 1.

So, here we are at Mogren Beach 1, you can stay here, or you can go to the neighboring beach. We pass the first beach and hit a rock, sometimes the water comes close to the rock and you will have to get your feet wet. If there is not a lot of water, then you can see the path into the tunnel.

We make our way inside the rock and see this makeshift bridge inside. At the beginning of the season there may not be a bridge at all, then you should walk on water or sand. Next, there will be a very narrow section of the trail, which can be very slippery or even flooded by tidal waves. I recommend going barefoot or being extremely attentive and careful.

So we reached Mogren Beach 2, there are a little less people here, very few tourists with small children (not everyone will climb through the cave with a stroller).

If you go to the farthest part of Mogren Beach 2, you can see the path to the rocks. The path is quite difficult, I recommend either not going there at all, or having good shoes (the stones are sharp, there may be injuries).

Photos and description of Mogren 1 beach in Budva

  • beach length: 300 meters;
  • sun lounger price: from 15 euros;
  • beach covering: pebbles, sand;
  • best time to visit the beach: first half of the day, in the evening shade from the rocks.

What surprises and amazes is the color of the water on the beach, pay attention to the photo and you will understand what I am talking about. In 2004, Mogren Beach was awarded the Blue Flag, so the beauty of this place is documented. :) Of course, a lot of water has passed under the bridge since 2004, but if I were to choose the best beach in Budva, I would choose Mogren.

Mogren Beach 1 is more touristy (so to speak) and noisy, unlike its neighbor. There are all the benefits of civilization, cafes, sun lounger rentals, toilets, showers, changing rooms, catamaran rentals and other tourist attractions.

The main contingent on Mogren 1 are tourists with children, there are really a lot of them here, there are also many independent travelers and foreigners.

On Mogren you can rent a sunbed with an umbrella and spend the whole day doing nothing. Sunbeds are concentrated closer to the entrance to the beach. Montenegrin laws say that sun loungers can take up no more than 50% of the total space on the beach, thus leaving free space for tourists who do not want to pay for this service. Tourists willingly take advantage of this opportunity and relax on Mogren completely free of charge on their own towel or even on the sand.

On the beach you can rent a kayak and go to the shores of St. Nicholas Island, to the Richard's Head beach, or wherever your eyes take you. It took me 3 hours to visit the beach of Hawaii Island (St. Nicholas Island), snorkel there a little and return.

The cost of renting a kayak is reasonable (10 Euros for the first hour), and each hour of extension costs half as much as the first hour. Be sure to take a sealed bag for documents and photographic equipment; when renting a kayak or catamaran, this service is free for you.

For swimmers and sunbathers, Mogren Beach will also be suitable. The shore is covered with coarse sand and small pebbles, certainly not Thailand, but the shore is much nicer than on Slavyansky Beach.

There are several cafes located at the very entrance to the beach. They look simple, but you definitely won’t die of hunger. Prices in cafes on Mogren beaches are slightly higher than in Budva and on Slovyansky beach, but this is understandable, because products are delivered here mainly by sea, and there is no competition as such. One good thing is that no one forbids you to bring food and drinks to the beach that you can buy in Budva.

Photos and description of Mogren 2 beach in Budva

  • beach length: 400 meters;
  • beach entrance price: free;
  • sun lounger price: from 10 euros;
  • beach covering: pebbles, coarse sand, stones;
  • entry into the water: mostly flat;
  • beach infrastructure: everything you need is there;
  • Beach congestion during the season: very high;
  • best time to visit the beach: first half of the day, in the evening there is shade.

After passing Mogren 1 beach, you get to Mogren 2. This beach is much larger than its neighbor, mainly due to the pancake stone spit, and is very different from it.

The coastal strip of Mogren Beach 2 is noticeably narrower, the sandy shore gives way to stones and large pebbles, and in the farthest corner of the beach there is a path to the rocks. There is also natural shade from trees and the opportunity to sunbathe on huge boulders.

Closer to the entrance to the beach there is a two-story cafe, which was built on the site of a destroyed church (now almost no one knows about this church). Next to the cafe there are sun loungers with umbrellas, the price of which is slightly lower than on the neighboring beach. There are few sunbeds, so they are somewhat in short supply, especially in high season.

They try to keep the beaches clean; a lot depends on the vacationers themselves and their self-discipline. I don’t understand how you can throw a cigarette butt into the sea when there is a trash can 20 meters away? If you compare the cleanliness of Mogren beach and Slavic beach, then Mogren is cleaner, but a little wilder. For example, in the middle of the beach there is a permanent (constant) pile of garbage bags, this garbage pile is set on fire from time to time, and this is how waste is disposed of. This is also complete savagery for me.

The crowd on Mogren 2 beach is very different from the neighboring beach, there are practically no tourists with small children here, a lot of people relax on their own towels and bedding, and there are places on paid sunbeds.

There are fewer amenities on Mogren 2, there are no boat rentals, no fresh showers, etc., probably for this reason there are so few tourists with small children, and the road to this beach itself is difficult with a stroller.

The shore covering on Mogren Beach 2 is a mix of coarse sand and pebbles, and in the far part there are solid stones. Be careful, there are many sea urchins living among the rocks; wear special shoes here.

Rocks on Mogren Beach

In the farthest part of the beach there is a path to a steep cliff; the road is difficult and you should think several times about the advisability of hiking along it. The entire path is solid rocks, very slippery and treacherous. If you decide to go here, do it very carefully and wear comfortable shoes (the stones are sharp).

After going through a series of “concrete jungles”, you climb a high cliff with a panoramic view of Old Budva and a platform for jumping into the sea.

During my presence there were no people willing to jump from the cliff. The rock looks to be 10 meters high (maybe more), with a fairly small lagoon below, surrounded by stone ledges. There would have been many more daredevils, but the memorial plaque fixed on a steep cliff has a sobering effect.

The “secret path” to the abandoned Fort Mogren, which is located a little higher up the mountain, begins on the rock. The path up the slope is very tiring, so I do not recommend that you go up to the fortress this way. It is much easier to go down from the fortress to the beach.

I have one small request for you: take away all the garbage that you generate from the cliff. Unfortunately, most people do not behave very responsibly and the rock turns into an outright garbage dump. If the beaches are still somehow cleaned up, then the municipal services will not climb onto the rocks and clean up the trash after tourists.

My review about Mogren beach

I regularly went to Mogren 2, or rather to the rocks behind this beach. This is the only place in Budva where you can be alone and admire the sea.

The walk from Budva to Mogren beach itself is a great activity, especially if you’re not in a hurry. On the way to the beach you can buy delicious pizza and eat it sitting on the rocks. I especially liked the pizzeria in the Old Town.

While relaxing on the rocks (behind Mogren beach), I developed a habit that I tried to stick to when visiting this amazing place. Every time I went to the beach, I took an empty grocery bag with me, and left the rocks completely filled with garbage that tourists left behind. For me it was not difficult, but for future visitors to this wonderful place it will be much more difficult to leave behind empty bottles, cigarette butts and other rubbish (the “Broken Windows Theory” should work).

It’s especially nice to come to the rocks in the evening, sit comfortably on the warm stones and watch the sun decorate the ancient walls of Old Budva at sunset.

Have a nice holiday in Budva!

Beaches of Budva: photos, reviews and much other useful information. Slavic beach (Budva), Mogren beach and Mogren 2, Richardova Glava district. Pros and cons of different beaches in Budva (Montenegro).

In one of my previous articles, I already wrote that the beaches of Budva are far from perfect. The city beach here is quite crowded. In some places near the shore there may easily be dumped garbage lying around. And this common bedlam unites almost all the beaches of Budva. But don’t rush to immediately close this article and go to some other blog with more optimistic reviews. Budva as a holiday destination has many advantages. And the beaches of the “summer capital of Montenegro”, with their beauty and picturesqueness, can sometimes more than cover all the disadvantages of the local service.

So, what are the pros and cons of the most popular beaches in Budva (Montenegro)? Which ones are the most comfortable and clean? Read about all this and much more in our review.

Slavic Beach (Budva)

pros. This is the main beach of this resort city, and at the same time the most “Russian”, the most “children’s” and the most “densely populated” beach of the Budva Riviera (located in maximum proximity to the strip of hotels and general urban development). The beach itself is very long and narrow. In fact, it is sandwiched between the sea and a long line of various bars, clubs and cafes. In some sections of the beach, various parks with children's attractions approach the shoreline. Therefore, in this sense, it’s generally lame for children. Carousels, bouncy castles, all sorts of carts with expensive ice cream and drinks... In addition, the sea itself is very calm and quiet (which is again good for children and pensioners). I understand that the sea can behave differently at different times of the year. But in July 2016, when we ourselves were vacationing here, there were practically no waves on the Slavyansky beach of Budva. Only a little sometimes the water was disturbed by various boats and “bananas” with tourists. But these are, so to speak, the little things in life.

By the way, there are plenty of sea activities here (parasailing, water skiing, boat trips, etc.). This, probably, should also be considered one of the advantages of the Slavic Beach of Budva.

Slavic beach (Budva) in the morning...

And he is during the day...

Minuses. To be honest, there are a lot of them here too. First of all, I would note that this is the dirtiest and noisiest beach in Budva. Next to the beach there is a small promenade with cafes and restaurants, so a whole crowd of people is constantly hanging around the shoreline. In addition, children also create a little noise. Therefore, when going here, prepare for the fact that someone will constantly run, jump, squeak, and throw stones into the water next to you. And Slavenska Plaza is the only place on the shore where I saw corn sellers (I don’t even know how they make their way along the beach among so many bodies scattered everywhere). Therefore, the atmosphere of this place is like the beaches of Anapa or Gelendzhik. I would say that Slavenska Beach is the most “post-Soviet” beach in Budva.

Beach structure: sand and pebble with a predominance of pebbles. There are small sandy areas.

Cost of sunbeds(July 2016): from 9 to 10 euros, but on many sections of the beach in the first coastal strip the set costs up to 20 euros.

Who's vacationing here?? Everything, everything, everything. The basis is made up of families with children. In addition, there are many elderly people on the beach. But there are also plenty of young people here. The ethnic composition of vacationers is formed mostly by representatives of post-Soviet and post-Yugoslav peoples.

Beach Accommodation. In fact, most hotels and rental apartments in Budva are located closest to this beach. Therefore, there are very, very many options in terms of rental housing. Personally, we rented for $24 a day a five-minute walk from Slavyansky Beach. Other housing options are available.

Beach Richardova Glava

pros. This place to relax is located right next to the walls of the old city. There – where many expensive hotels in Budva are located. Therefore, there are fewer people here than on Slavyansky Beach. Even though Richardova Glava beach is probably the smallest beach in the city. Pleasant music is constantly playing from the expensive Avala cafe nearby. Not far from the beach there is one of the main symbols of the city - the sculpture “Gymnast” (which is actually not a gymnast at all, but a girl waiting by the shore for her lover). Why she is waiting for him naked is still understandable. But why in such an awkward position remains a mystery to me. However, okay... Now it’s not about her.

What else is worth saying about Richardova Glava beach is that it is the cleanest and most well-groomed beach in the resort. At least the staff of the nearby hotel clean it regularly. And it’s just cozy and very beautiful here. You sit by the shore and watch how the stone walls of the old city rise on one side, and high cliffs and cliffs on the other. It all looks very picturesque. If you get tired of sitting around doing nothing, you can go jump off the pier. Well, or at least watch how deftly Montenegrin children jump into the water from it.

Minuses. Among the disadvantages of the Richardova Glava beach, I would include its dimensions - as I said, this beach is quite small (besides, according to the good Montenegrin tradition, it is densely lined with sun loungers). There is free space, but it is relatively small. In addition, the bottom here is very uneven. You swim and swim and suddenly come across some huge stone. Then you swim normally again. Although, if you jump into the water from the pier, there are no such problems. Another disadvantage is that here and there there are hedgehogs in the water. But they usually hide only under the pier piles. Therefore, there is no need to be particularly afraid of them.

Beach structure: sand and pebbles.

Cost of sunbeds: 25 euros.

Who's vacationing here?? Mostly Europeans - French and British. There are relatively few representatives of post-Soviet peoples. There are also few children on this beach (except for those who jump from the pier). But I met glamorous middle-aged ladies and girls with pumped lips very often here.

Hotels near the old town of Budva: Can .

Mogren Beach (Budva) and Mogren 2

pros. The most secluded, most natural and shady beach in the city. The path to it goes along narrow balconies along the rocks and then dives into several natural arches. It is not so easy to get here with small children and elderly people. Therefore, most of the vacationers here are young and middle-aged people.

The beach itself is surrounded by forest and high cliffs. There are relatively few sunbeds here. Therefore, there are slightly more places to relax here than on Slavyansky Beach (but less than, for example, in Hawaii). In addition, Mogren and Mogren 2 beaches are the only sandy beaches in Budva. And also one of the most picturesque places in the resort. In the evenings there is always someone playing with a ball. And in the far part of the coastline (behind the part of the beach that is conventionally called Mogren 2) there is a high, high cliff from which people are constantly jumping. Its height apparently reaches the height of a 7-story building. Therefore, this is by far the highest diving point I have seen in the city.

Minuses. Like Slavyansky Beach, it is quite dirty here. Although one of my friends, who traveled to Montenegro in May, on the contrary, called the beaches of Mogren one of the cleanest in the city. Therefore, I will say this: in July 2016 there was a lot of garbage here. The dirty changing cabins especially killed me. I didn't even want to go into them.

What else?.. There are also fallen trees here and there, and in the sea the depth begins quite sharply. And the location of the beach itself should also be considered a disadvantage. You won't get here by taxi. And the walk to the beaches of Mogren and Mogren 2 is quite long. As I wrote, the passage to the beach itself goes through the rocks. In some places the path runs along narrow open ledges along the sea, on which it is quite difficult for two people walking in different directions to pass each other. Also, when I was swimming here, some small fish bit me twice on the leg. Don't believe me? And Tanya doesn’t believe it either. But I could swear that someone grabbed my leg twice.

Beach structure: sandy.

Cost of sunbeds: 15 euros (Mogren 1), 10-15 euros (Mogren 2).

Who's vacationing here?? All sorts of Serbian and Montenegrin hippies, athletes who come here to play with the ball, as well as young and middle-aged people.

Hotels near Mogren Beach: Villa Spas (0.2 km from the sea), Apartments Sergio (0.8 km), Guest House “Plima 2” (0.7 km), Apartments Tamara (1.6 km), Apartments Vidikovac (0.1 km).

Hawaii Beach on St. Nicholas Island

pros. This is my favorite beach in Budva. Although, in fact, this is not even one beach, but a certain collection of beaches located on the island of St. Nicholas. Therefore, “Hawaii” can be very different in different places. There are narrow sections along the cliffs, but for the most part this beach is relatively spacious due to the smaller number of people who relax here. If you wish, you can even climb into small depressions in the rocks, where there are practically no people. But you will have to go to such places along the rocks through the sea, which will constantly try to knock you off your feet (so it’s better not to take anything valuable with you).

In general, Hawaii Beach in Budva is a very cool place. There is natural shade from rocks and trees, and there are many beautiful islands in the water, which are incredibly pleasant to swim among. If you wish, you can jump from the cliffs or swim into small isolated caves. The air here is fresh, and the sea itself is very beautiful and clean. Although its cleanliness largely depends on the behavior of the tourists themselves.

What else can be said about Hawaii Beach is that, unlike Mogren beaches, it has very good cabanas. This is also the only beach in Budva where I saw lifeguards. They behaved, of course, in the lazy Montenegrin way. One was reading something on his phone. The other one hid from everyone and solved sudoku puzzles. But the very fact of their presence is already a plus.

Minuses. You need to get here by boat. Although I don't know if this is a drawback or not.

If you wish, you can go by direct boat (Budva - Hawaii - Budva). It cost 3 euros in July 2016. But Tanya and I chose a slightly longer walk, during which the boat made a small circle to the island of Sveti Stefan. A two-way trip cost 4 euros. And the final point was St. Nicholas, where you could linger until 6 pm if you wanted. BUT! You can only leave with the same company you came with. And the boats themselves are completely unpunctual. So come early. And it’s better to wait a little for the ship on the shore.

What else is worth noting among the minuses? On the Hawaii beach, there are large stones here and there near the shore. They're slimy. It's uncomfortable to stand on them. Therefore, be careful when entering the water. The depth starts very quickly. And the rescuers, as I already wrote, are on Facebook on their phones or solving Sudoku.

Well, one more thing - you cannot come to the island with your own drinks and food. And the cafes here, of course, are not very cheap. In addition, here and there on the island there are improvised trash cans. Essentially, Montenegrins simply dump garbage behind one of the distant rocks. And they simply forget about it.

Beach structure: rocky. In some places it is rocky and sandy.

Cost of sunbeds: 10 euros for two sun loungers and an umbrella. At least, these are the prices I saw. Although maybe it was some kind of temporary action.

Who's vacationing here?? The ethnic composition is heterogeneous. I saw here Ukrainians, Russians, Yugoslavs, Americans and French. Speech sounds from all sides in a variety of languages. But, of course, there are not as many children and pensioners here as on the Slavyansky beach of Budva.

There are no hotels on St. Nicholas Island.

Addition: other beaches of Budva

There are several other small beaches in different parts of Budva, about which it is difficult for me to say anything special. Pisana beach is located near the port. As for me, this is a continuation of Slavyansky Beach. In many respects they are very similar. Guvance Beach is located on the eastern outskirts of Budva, not far from the tunnel going towards Becici. They say it's great to watch sunsets here. But I personally have not verified this information myself. Jaz Beach also deserves special attention in the suburbs of Budva. You can get there by taxi or regular minibus (runs every 45 minutes). In July 2016, such travel cost 1 euro (one way). By the way, it is on Jaz beach that the famous Sea Dance festival in Montenegro takes place, which is a kind of continuation of another larger musical project - the Exit festival, which takes place every year in the Serbian Novi Sad. This year, the headliners of the Sea Dance festival were Hurts and Skrillex.

The beach itself consists of 2 parts: Mogren-I (length 140 meters) and Mogren-II (200 meters). They are 1500 meters away from the resort itself.

These beaches are strewn with very small pebbles. There is a path along the rocks of layered shale rocks and between large boulders. The beaches are separated from each other by a rocky through cave with a small bridge for pedestrians. Mogren Beach (Budva) is chosen by many lovers of seaside holidays.

According to numerous reviews, Mogren beach (Budva) is one of the most beloved and popular. Its main advantages are that it is a very picturesque place with a clean coastline.

It has, one might say, the only drawback - it is not very long and the road leading to it along the rocks does not have fences in some places.

According to the responses of tourists, this place is considered almost the best in In the midst of summer holidays, due to its popularity, there are a lot of people here, so many cannot get to this beach. Only after the end of the season can you spend a relaxing holiday, enjoying the soft sea breeze and the splendor of the landscapes that open to your eyes. This is the best place in terms of lack of wind. The water temperature is also comfortable. This is the best place in Budva for a romantic getaway.

Something from history

It all once began with a small ancient island (cape), which later connected with the mainland.

According to one legend, the city was founded by Cadmus of Phoenicia, the son of King Agenor. Budva had to go through a lot in reality. Let us give a brief overview of the stages of the city's history.

It belonged first to the Romans, then to the Byzantines, and in the Middle Ages it became part of the Principality of Diocletia (Serbia). It was also under the rule of the Republic of Venice until the 18th century. The Austro-Hungarians owned the city in the 19th century, after which it became part of Yugoslavia.

The years of World War II were also difficult times for Budva, when half of the inhabitants died here. It has been a resort since 2006.

Road to the beach

How to get to Mogren beach from Budva? From coastal and central hotels you can easily walk to Mogren, since the distance is short. From the old town area, a narrow path leads to this shore, passing by the Avala Hotel, which can serve as a landmark.

If you go to the right of the Old Town wall without turning left beyond it, you can get to Mogren-1 beach along a narrow passage running along the shore and rocks (it was described above). After the ballerina statue and picturesque rocks, you can reach your goal. The beach differs from other recreation areas in its clearer water and coating of small pebbles, which attracts many vacationers here.

In the absence of a storm, you can go to Mogren-2. If the sea is very rough, it is better to go in swimsuits, as when walking along the path between the sea and the rock (only 1 meter wide), you can be hit by waves.

These beaches are a great place to relax, especially in summer. Budva is charming and fabulously beautiful. It became clear how to get to Mogren Beach. Welcome!

This city is beautiful not only for its beaches and magnificent natural landscapes, but also for its entertainment. Here you can see various music festivals, rock concerts, folklore performances, exciting knightly tournaments and much more. etc.
