Today, maps have successfully migrated to tablets and phones, but you shouldn’t give up on time-tested paper counterparts, especially since almost any map of Phuket can be obtained completely free.

I love electronic cards in various gadgets and devices, but they have one big drawback - battery drain, but there is no such problem for paper.

Paper maps have several more undeniable advantages:

  • Most tourist cards can be obtained for free (this is their huge advantage);
  • a paper map can easily be left in the external glove compartment of a moped and no one will covet it (try doing the same with an iPad);
  • You can make notes on your knowledge of the island on paper maps;
  • a paper map can be thrown away anywhere and it will not cause any harm to nature.

Free cards also have their drawbacks; almost all of them contain advertisements; more precisely, the card adorns the advertising brochure - this is the price for being free. However, some advertisements will come in handy; most discounts on advertisements work (tested from personal experience).

Another feature of all free maps is the lack of complete information (on one, restaurants and cafes are indicated, on another, large hotels, on the third, markets and attractions). This problem can be solved very simply, just take a few cards and the picture will become clearer. However, there is a much more serious problem, in many Asian countries - this is the name of the streets. For example, on a paper map there is one name, on Google Maps there is another, but in real life this street may not have any name at all.

Where to get a free map of Phuket in Russian

You can get a paper card for free at the following places:

  • at Phuket airport - do not rush to leave the airport building, you can get many useful things there, from a free tourist SIM card to a free transfer; if you look closely, you will also find local maps;
  • from your tour operator - if you arrived on vacation on a package tour, then with a high probability a paper map will be presented to you by the guide;
  • in shopping centers - the resort has many shopping centers and other places where tourists gather, in most of them you can take a free map of the island;
  • at the hotel - most large hotels have special advertising stands where you will find everything you need; to receive a card you do not have to be a guest of this hotel.

The best map of Phuket in Russian

I had a variety of maps of the island, including from the largest tourist operators, but all of them, to put it mildly, did not live up to being considered completely Russian-language. All of their Russification consisted only in the fact that the booklets had large headings in Russian and that’s all. The most Russified map was discovered completely by accident and perhaps it is the simplest and most convenient. Unfortunately, not all the sights of the island are indicated on it, and the Russification is so-so, but the map can be useful for those who came to the island for the first time.

The Sabai tourist office has a good Russian-language map; it is given to all Teztur tourists (it’s not entirely clear what Teztur has to do with it, but the map is not bad). There is not enough Russian language on it, but there is detail in the main tourist places. In addition to advertising shops and other entertainment venues, the booklet contains detailed maps of the most popular tourist areas of the island.

Map of northern Phuket

In the very north of the island (in Thalang district), there is Phuket International Airport and several tourist beaches (Sai Kaew, Mai Khao, Nai Yang and Naithon). Fans of aviation spotting (photographing airplanes) should head to this part of the island. About the most tourist beaches of the island, read the link.

The map of this area of the island, which is located on the border of Thalang and Kathu districts, shows the layout of expensive hotels near Bang Tao beach.

The map of the popular tourist area of Patong is very sketchy, but the main landmarks (Ceylon shopping center, Bangla Road, Starbucks cafe, etc.) can be found without problems.

Phuket– one of the best holiday destinations in Thailand. This resort island, located a short distance from the mainland, is preferred by tourists who like to be surrounded by picturesque nature, excellent service, as well as luxury hotels and beaches.

Phuket on the world map and Thailand

Phuket is the largest island, and it is connected to the mainland by two parallel bridges - Sarasin And Thepkrasattri.

Geographical position

Phuket is located in the southwest of the Kingdom of Thailand, 860 km from Bangkok. It is separated from the mainland Pak Phra Strait. The island is washed on all sides by the waters of the Indian Ocean.

Total area – 570 sq. km, which also includes the area of 39 small islands located around Phuket. Mainly miniature islands, covered with forest, with the most bizarre shapes and beautiful beaches.

Climate

Predominant in Phuket tropical monsoon climate. The weather here is wonderful from here to now. At this time, the sea is calm and the daytime temperature is +32 degrees. At the same time, throughout the entire period the weather is clear, and there is no rain or strong wind.

Beach map in Russian

Most tourists prefer to stay on the west coast. The beaches in this area are characterized by low waves and low tides.

The main one in the ranking of the best beaches is Patong– the most developed tourist place. It is located in the northwest, and thanks to the presence of a large concentration of hotels and developed infrastructure, a vacation here will never be boring.

Patong is suitable for those who want to surround themselves with popular Thai services, including night activities.

Kalim Beach, located to the north, is a continuation of the famous Patong, and they are separated by small cliffs on the shore. It is a little calmer than its neighbor, but it is noticeably cleaner and more comfortable here. If you get bored with quiet life and want entertainment, then just drive 1 km to Patong to be in the thick of things.

Other popular beaches in Phuket:

Also in demand among tourists are several quiet and secluded beaches, such as Laem Sing, Freedom, Banana And Paradise.

Entertainment and excursions

There is a wide choice in Phuket nightclubs, restaurants, cafe And shops, as well as many places in traditional Thai style, where you can try national cuisine or relax while enjoying a massage. People who love to party head to Patong or nearby beaches for easy access to this place.

Fans of active recreation love to come to Phuket, as there are many places for diving, surfing and windsurfing.

There is also a large selection on the island excursions to local attractions, which include visits to temples, natural parks and observation decks.

Shopping

The main shopping area in Phuket is concentrated in Patong, as well as on large beaches: Surin and Bang Tao. On Bangla Road and Patong Beach Road you can find everything from shopping centers to small souvenir shops and shops where you can buy for your loved ones. Towards evening, these places turn into one big market.

Phuket is great for a beach holiday. On the island there are entire areas with hotels for families or youth holidays, as well as luxury hotels and budget options for overnight stays. Thanks to the excellent service typical of this country, you can be sure that accommodation will always be comfortable.

I'll tell you briefly about all the beaches. At the end of the article there will be a map on which all the beaches of Phuket are marked. We visited almost all of them and took a lot of cool photos and videos. Read more about each beach by clicking on the name.

For our fastidious taste, the best beaches in Phuket are Kamala, Surin, Bangtao, Nai Harn. They are good for holidays and long-term living. Also of interest are the so-called secret wild beaches - Nui, Banana, Laem Sing, which are worth coming to for picturesque views.

So, let's start the review with the most popular beaches of Phuket island.

★ Kata

Kata is one of the most popular among our compatriots. There are a lot of people in high season. But in the central part you can find privacy. It is best to choose a hotel on the left side of Kata. On the right side of the beach, a stinking river flows into the sea, the water there is not very clean, and besides, you will have to go to the sea along this river.

★ Kalim

It is a continuation of Patong. Usually no one swims on it, we didn’t risk it either. We didn’t notice any sunbeds or other tourist infrastructure.

Kalim beach

★ Hua

- another tiny semi-wild beach, hidden near Kamala. It’s worth coming here once to take a photo and sit in silence on the seashore. We found this place a bit dirty for swimming. There is nothing nearby except a run-down cafe for locals.

Hua beach

★ Rawai

Rawai is not a swimmable beach, as it is very shallow, dirty and there are many fishing boats. Although this does not stop some and people dare to take a plunge here. There are chances to find affordable housing in the Rawai area. From the beach you can go to neighboring islands by hiring a boatman. Gorgeous views.

More precisely, you can get there on foot, but you will have to walk uphill for about 40 minutes. In the heat, few people agree to this. The Tri Trang beach area itself is poorly developed; for movement you need to go to Patong. The main advantage is that there are never waves on Tritrang.

Map of Phuket beaches

I have prepared for you a special interactive map of Phuket in Russian, which shows beaches, restaurants, shops, bars, entertainment, parks, gardens - all the attractions of the island. You can study the map online or download it to your mobile phone or tablet to use on your trip. For convenience, click on the icon in the upper left corner, categories of attractions will open, if you wish, you can uncheck or check the box which points to display on the map.

Phuket attractions: beaches, entertainment, shops, restaurants and more

Sometimes people ask me which hotel to choose in Phuket that is closer to the attractions. This question is puzzling. Completely different attractions are scattered throughout the island. Some want to visit the temples, others want to watch evening shows, others want to look into the parks and gardens of the island, and at the same time swim every day in the good sea. In addition, if you are going for several, it will be difficult to come up with the most favorable place to stay. For a trip to the mainland to Khao Lak, or better yet, choose the northern beaches of Phuket. For boat trips, Coral is more convenient to live in the south of the island.

In my opinion, it is better to choose a beach not closer to attractions, but according to other priorities. Do you want a lot of inexpensive restaurants and discos near the hotel? Or do you prefer a deserted beach? Or maybe you are looking for a beach without waves during the rainy season? This will help you find the best beach in Phuket. If you are interested in the sights of Phuket, restaurants, children's places, parks and other interesting things, download. It works offline without an internet connection. The information in it is updated first.
