Karaimskaya street

If you are going to feel the spirit of real historical Evpatoria, then you should visit Karaimskaya street. Even if the embankment part of the city does not interest you yet, because the historical center of the city is Karaimskaya Street. Everything here is imbued with the special spirit of local culture and looks especially unique. And although all the buildings have been restored long ago, their appearance remains just as old and beautiful.

The rhythm of life on Karaimskaya Street remains simply incredible. Here you can meet dozens of wandering musicians, including representatives of the rare oriental style, clay sculptors, blacksmiths, needlewomen, etc. In addition, the street offers its visitors an excellent opportunity to purchase a unique souvenir or try different types of coffee. If you choose the right day, you can attend an oriental dance concert. Believe me, such a sight will remain in your memory for a long time.

And although every building located on Karaimskaya Street is a unique historical value, We advise you to pay attention to such buildings as:

Tram of Desires

This unique object is located in the local park named after Frunze. If you are going to save as many vivid impressions as possible from your trip to Crimea, do not forget to add the wish tram to your list of places to visit. By the way, in Yevpatoria there is only a single excursion tram route. There are tables inside the tram, so every tourist can take lemonade, ice cream or other sweets with them for a more interesting listening tour.

The guide will listen carefully to all your questions and tell you about the rich history of the resort town, local culture and other interesting facts. If you look at the surrounding streets, you can feel the special spirit of ancient Greece or Turkey, imagine that military leaders are walking around the city, Turkish citizens are walking freely, or someone is going to lay siege to a fortress. In general, the experience is unforgettable. Why was the tram called the “Tram of Desires”? Everything is very simple, there is a legend that if you step on the footrest with your left foot and take the handrail with your right, any wish you make will become a reality. Amazing, isn't it?

Alley of Fountains

If you are planning a family vacation and don’t know where to go with your child, then fountain alley will be a very worthy option. In the evening, all 50 fountains turn the city into a fairy tale. The fact is that they are equipped with multi-colored lighting and at night they look like a New Year's garland. At night, street musicians and other creative people gather here. Here you can find truly unique works of art and get an unforgettable experience.

In addition, the fountain alley is a favorite place of many young couples who value romance and want to make their relationship more colorful. After visiting the alley of fountains, several dozen unique photos will definitely appear on your phone or camera.

Embankments of Evpatoria

If, in addition to historical sights, you are interested in delicious local cuisine and a desire to remember Crimea for a long time, be sure to visit embankments of Evpatoria. There is a lot of exciting entertainment here for families with children, young couples, and older people.

Unlike other resort towns of Crimea, Evpatoria has several embankments at once. If this is your first time visiting this city, be sure to head to Gorky and Tereshkova embankments. Both streets have some similarities, but still have their differences. Here you will find dozens of small souvenir shops, street musicians, tents with homemade wine, dancers, singers, artists and much more.

To take a sea excursion with a child All you need to do is find a moored yacht and negotiate with the captain. Gorky Embankment is famous for its unique dolphinarium and the large sculpture of Hercules.

On the Tereshkova embankment you can find the Juma-Jami Mosque, St. Nicholas Cathedral and St. Elias Church.

Entertainment for children in Evpatoria.

If you don’t know where to go with your child in Evpatoria, then we recommend visiting the dolphinarium, water park, tropic park, aquarium and unique museums.

Holidays in Crimea usually do not end with the end of summer - the weather in Yevpatoria and other coastal cities allows you to comfortably relax at sea in September. For those who find themselves with children in Yevpatoria or are planning to go there in the near future, a resident Crimea Tatyana Pirozhenko has compiled a guide to Evpatoria.

As a Crimean, I am often asked: where is the best place to relax with children in Crimea and what to see? I was tired of answering and decided to make a series of posts about the resorts of Crimea - with all their pros and cons.

I’ll start my guide to Crimea for children with Evpatoria and the surrounding area. It is the western coast of Crimea that I recommend to everyone who wants to come on vacation with small children. Why? I'll explain now!

The climate here is therapeutic: dry steppe coast and sea. It is not for nothing that Evpatoria has long been a recognized children's health resort. Plus, the city has mineral water springs and mud lakes nearby. At the same time, the nature and weather here are not very exotic - acclimatization for Russians will be mild. By the way, doctors advise resting for 21 days or more to fully acclimatize and obtain a therapeutic effect.

But the most important thing is that Evpatoria has huge sandy beaches. It is difficult for a child to walk with his feet on pebbles, and when swimming among the rocks and large stones of the southern coast of Crimea, it is easy to get hurt. Evpatoria may not have beautiful mountain views, but it does have the main thing - a shallow sea! And the fact that the water becomes cloudy due to sand when there is excitement is nonsense.

But in June the water temperature in the sea will reach 22-25 degrees, and it will remain so throughout the summer. But on the South Coast a cold current may come - and swimming will not be so comfortable. So we bathe preschoolers only in Evpatoria!

But not in the city itself - for me there are too many people there. I would recommend the surrounding areas: Novofedorovka, Saki, Pribrezhnoye, Zaozernoye. Beautiful beaches stretch for many kilometers in both directions from Yevpatoria; you can rent inexpensive housing anywhere nearby.

It is also important that Evpatoria, on the one hand, is a large city, and on the other, a resort not as luxurious as Yalta.

That is, you will find here large stores, pharmacies, ATMs, card payments, familiar products and goods. This is especially important when traveling with children. And the prices will not be too “resort” ones.

And you can eat calmly, like a family: there are many canteens in the city where you can eat with children, their menus and prices are designed for daily family breakfasts and lunches.

In the villages around Evpatoria It’s more difficult with things familiar to a city dweller, but you can always just drive to Evpatoria - it’s nearby.

If you're tired of lying on the beach or the weather has turned bad, Evpatoria is full of entertainment just for children. But adults also have something to see and where to go. Everything is located compactly, mainly in the Gorky embankment area.

By the way, Evpatoria is the only city in Crimea where there are trams. So there is enough city transport. Therefore, if you are vacationing without a car, this is even better: you won’t have to worry about finding a parking space.

Waterpark "Banana Republic" located on the beach "Solnyshko" on the Simferopol highway. The water park has a huge area and many slides. There is a free bus from Evpatoria that takes you there. The Lukomorye water park is located in Yevpatoria itself, it is smaller, but thematic, with fairy-tale characters. Water parks always have something for children to do, and this is a good option if the sea is stormy but you still want to swim.

Evpatoria Aquarium with exotic fish, originally painted with 3D paintings - it’s interesting to take photos here.

Evpatoria Dolphinarium Every day there are performances with dolphins, fur seals and beluga whales. Children are always delighted!

Dinosaur Park located in Frunze Park, at the very end of the Evpatoria embankment. Huge moving and roaring figures of dinosaurs will not leave children indifferent! And from the interactive side there is not only a play area, but also a large sandbox where you can carry out “excavations”.

The old part of Yevpatoria is interesting and picturesque. I highly recommend it, especially to antiquity and history buffs like me!

Narrow crooked streets, unusual architecture, museums and temples at every step: Karaite, Jewish, Orthodox, Armenian, Muslim. The streets have been restored for tourists, and now there is a permanent souvenir market, art workshops, master classes for children and various festivals. There is especially a lot of stuff on Friday evenings.

Be sure to visit the tower at the South Gate. On the third floor there is a museum - Evpatoria in miniature. And then downstairs in the cafe, drink real oriental coffee with sweets. And you can have lunch here in the café-museum of Jewish cuisine “Eskin Kot” - that’s something!

You can go to the Old Town on foot (by public transport), or you can go directly from Gorky Embankment on an open excursion bus. At the same time, they will tell you about the city. The “Little Jerusalem” route is what Evpatoria is called for its multinationality.

Theater "Golden Key"- the actors in it are children. This is a unique theater that constantly takes prestigious places at theater festivals, and is very much loved by both children and adults throughout Crimea!

In Evpatoria, small but very pleasant local history museum with a diorama dedicated to the Evpatoria landing during the Great Patriotic War. And opposite the entrance to the museum there is a glass pyramid in which you can see ancient excavations.

My personal recommendation is to definitely take a sightseeing boat trip on a boat with a transparent bottom"Looker"! It’s terribly interesting to look at fish and algae. And if the sea is calm, then they will take you to the sunken ship, and you will see it at the bottom.

Right in the city center on the street. In Frunze there is a mineral water pump room - healing water comes straight from the well, and you can simply drink it.

On the way out of the city towards Simferopol, stop at the salt lake Sasyk-Sivash to feed the swans and take photos. This place has long become another attraction of Yevpatoria - swans live here all year round, they don’t even fly away for the winter. And if you are lucky, you will see the pink waters of the lake - due to the high salt content, in certain lighting it takes on a pinkish-lilac color!

There is also the Moinaki mud lake nearby - vacationers come here to smear themselves with healing mud. Be careful, dirt has the opposite effect on some people!

An hour's drive from Evpatoria towards Simferopol is an even more famous mud resort - the city of Saki. Bring a souvenir from there - cosmetics with healing Saki salts. They claim that it is better than Dead Sea cosmetics.

And right there, at the exit from Sak to Evpatoria - a small open-air museum "Kara-Tobe" - the Greek and Scythian periods of the history of Crimea. There you can listen to a tour and see the excavations of a Scythian estate and an ancient amphitheater. I really love this.

What to see in Evpatoria? Where to go and what to do with children: the best attractions and entertainment in the city and surrounding areas..

Evpatoria is a popular beach resort. Plus, it’s also a big city with a rich history and a lot of buildings of interesting architecture. There are not many attractions as such, but there are leisure options. Moreover, for all age groups!

Adults will appreciate the charm of the old town and the sophistication of the old houses. Traditional Crimean cuisine and promenades on the embankments under the chirping of crickets and a giant full moon.

Surely children will not be left out of the pleasures either. Water parks and a dolphinarium, children's playgrounds and attractions, a lot of entertainment on the beaches, mountains of ice cream and a sea of milkshakes... This is enough to not get bored for not only 2 weeks, but also the whole summer.

Top attractions

The old town of Evpatoria is the first place where tourists go. Those who had time to swim in the sea and were ready to get to know the resort better. expensive, but allows you to comfortably dive into the depths of centuries. Independent promenades leave a lot of questions: there are signs, but the information on the stands is crumbs!

Little has survived from the times of the mighty and glorious Gezlev fortress, the largest stronghold in Crimea during the Ottoman Empire. The only thing waiting for the curious is the reconstructed Karaimskaya Street and the poorly developed alleys that run off from it.

The old Tatar city will enchant a person with imagination: why, it’s made of stone and one-story! Most people simply won’t understand what to look at here!

The ancient gate tower has survived, through the passage through which everyone usually gets to the bridesmaid ceremony - Odun Bazaar Kapusy. On the second floor there is a cafe, and on the third floor there is a museum of Tatar life. You can see an excellent model of Gezlev.

Diagonally across the intersection is the Dzheval restaurant. Perhaps the most atmospheric catering establishment in Evpatoria. The food is delicious, and the prices in 2019 are not expected to fall and not rise. Relatively expensive, but not Moscow!

The Karaite kenas, the temple complex of the Crimean, now almost extinct people, is another iconic landmark. A visit to the complex costs only 150 RUB. Those who love chebureks and other dishes of Tatar cuisine are recommended to go to the restaurant - it is next door to the museum.

From the Old City you can go to Juma-Jami - it was designed by the famous Sinan himself, the author of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Just a block away is the main Christian church of the city, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

  • The building was once visited by the royal family, who loved to travel around Crimea during their holidays.

Both the cathedral and the mosque stand on Revolution Street. A highway, on one side of which there is a vast garden overlooking the Tereshkova embankment. In the evening there is a rental of bicycles and other vehicles. There is also a large, modern Ferris wheel with closed booths and beautiful lighting at night.

Places on the map

Things to do

On the embankment they cook and eat, adults walk (a view of the port with yachts is included - no bulk carriers), children play - there is a large area. There is a place to sit on a bench or right on the concrete fence of the embankment. There is no beach, but locals swim.

  • In the evenings, holidaymakers wander along the illuminated promenade, their children ride on velomobiles, and there are tents with barbecue and ice cream.

Another popular place for evening walks (arborvitae, lanterns, paving stones, street performers, Crimean waffles) is Gorky Embankment. It, like the pedestrian streets leading to it: Duvanovskaya or Frunze, become extremely busy places, once the heat subsides a little.

It’s pleasant to walk here - there are no words. Near Shkolnaya Street, in the Lenin Garden, there is an equipped children's playground; you can take pictures against the backdrop of a swimming pool with musical (!) fountains.

  • Note that it is on the Gorky embankment that the main city beaches of Evpatoria are located: free, but allowing access to the water only from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Back in 2017, they were thoroughly cleaned of debris and stones, equipped with towers for rescuers, and hundreds of sun loungers were placed under awnings

There are attractions along the embankment. If trampolines, several carousels and other simple entertainment mainly for children under 7 years old can be called this word. Local groups also perform here: they sing songs and put on impressive fire shows.

Nearby, on Kievskaya Street, there is a city dolphinarium that puts on surprisingly cool shows with dolphins and fur seals. You can also buy a painting painted by one of the dolphins if you win the auction.

  • Prices for visiting “bite”! An adult will pay 1,000 rubles for himself, and 600 rubles will have to be paid for a child over 4 years old - dolphinevpatoria.ru/tseny.html

There is plenty of entertainment on the beaches too. Closed “grid” towns are not very popular for children, but “bananas” are in demand at all times. Vacationers are taken on boats almost to the center of Kalamitskaya Bay - there are small inflatable slides at anchor, from which you can plunge straight into the open sea.

Nearby is another famous entertainment center in Evpatoria - the aqualand "At Lukomorye". They say that the local slides will satisfy only children (which is not true). But the presence of a swimming pool - the largest in Crimea - and a jacuzzi will reconcile adults with it.

  • Not many vacationers swim - everyone is on the slides - and therefore you can really enjoy the pool

Prices in 2019 are not too modest: an adult ticket costs 1,500 rubles, and for a child 1-1.3 meters tall you will have to pay 1,000 rubles.

With children in Yevpatoria, you can go to another water park - “Banana Republic”. It is located near the village of Pribrezhnoye - about 10 km along the Simferopol highway.

  • The sacrifices are justified if you do not take into account expenses (ticket - from 1,800 rubles), since this water park is the first in Crimea in terms of the level and number of slides. During the season there are queues even at the box office

Excursions

Those who wish can be taken around the city on open-top buses. You can also take a ride on the old Desire Streetcar - just keep in mind that it is best to do this in the evening.

Literally every corner offers excursions to any destination: from Sevastopol to Kerch. Usually they are designed for full daylight hours, since the distances are large: to Bakhchisaray about 90 km, Yalta - more than 150, Sudak - 170 km.

Evpatoria is known as a major climatic and balneological resort; moreover, it has been a first-class children's health resort since the times of the USSR. In many ways, the city gained its popularity due to its location, because it is surrounded by water on three sides:

  • in the south it is the Kalamitsky Gulf of the Black Sea,
  • in the east – the salt lake Sasyk Sivash,
  • in the west is the world-famous Moinak Estuary.

The pride of the resort is its favorable climate, spacious and clean sandy beaches, healing mud and numerous thermal springs. Sanatoriums and children's camps operate here to this day, and a large number of modern hotels in Evpatoria of various levels have also opened. The permanent population of Yevpatoria numbers more than 106,000 people, but at the height of the holiday season this figure increases significantly, because many residents of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries of the post-Soviet space strive to visit the resort.

Since Evpatoria is located not surrounded by mountains, but in the flat part of Crimea, the heat here is easily tolerated thanks to fresh breezes from the sea, which, together with the pleasant coolness on a hot day, bring streams of air saturated with salts and aromas of wormwood and herbs. Just a few decades ago, it was believed that it was impossible to grow parks and squares in the Evpatoria area due to the terrain: the soil here is sandy, in places it is clayey and rocky, and there is not enough moisture in the summer. But despite the peculiarities of the relief and the “surprises” that the weather brought, the city residents proved the opposite and began landscaping Evpatoria. The work was simply colossal: trenches were laid, holes were dug, fertile soil was brought in and fertilized, and literally every tree and shrub that was planted was looked after. And now, many years later, we see that tall cedars and cypresses, junipers, spruces and other representatives of the flora grow in the vast territories of sanatorium parks. Evpatoria is an incredibly beautiful “green” city; there are plantings not only in parks and squares, but also on the streets of the city. Due to this, you will feel the mixture of coniferous and sea air with every cell, thanks to which you can not only relax, but also spend time beneficial for your body. One weekend in Evpatoria will not be enough to get to know the city well, because there are as many as 5 squares, 229 avenues, streets and alleys, each of which keeps its secrets. Armed with a camera and a good mood, you will have a very interesting time here.

We have already mentioned that Evpatoria is a health resort; it is worth talking about its specialization. So, in the resort's sanatoriums and boarding houses they treat metabolic organs, the spine and joints, diseases of the respiratory system and skin, and cerebral palsy. The peculiarity of the treatment is an integrated approach: the correct daily routine, exercise therapy, mud therapy, a specially selected diet, and treatment with pharmaceuticals is used only if necessary. It is worth noting that most of the sanatoriums have been reconstructed and are equipped with modern equipment; here you will be met by qualified specialists who will prescribe competent treatment and make your stay here as beneficial as possible for your health.

You should not ignore the beaches of the resort, because they, along with the climate, are the determining factors when choosing a vacation spot. Most beaches are paid, but there are also a few free ones. Their main feature is fine sand and a gentle slope into the water; for these reasons, the beaches of Evpatoria are so often chosen for holidays with small children. The cost of visiting a paid beach, as a rule, is 20-30 rubles, but this already includes additional services - the use of changing cabins, showers, drinking fountains, equipped smoking areas. If necessary, you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas, use massage services, order soft drinks and ice cream from nearby cafes. Please note that the best paid beaches are located in close proximity to Lake Moinaki, towards the neighboring city of Saki; the beaches of the boarding house “Planet”, the shopping center “Solnyshko”, “Magnat” and others deserve no less attention. The most liberated vacationers can visit the nudist beach “Sunny Paradise”, a stay on which will cost 20 rubles, and umbrellas and sun loungers are already included in this price.

Currently, the tourist infrastructure of Evpatoria is developed at a high level: numerous cafes, bars, restaurants and discos open their doors to vacationers, and amusement parks will pleasantly delight the resort’s young guests. If you decide to spend your vacation in Evpatoria, rest assured that you are guaranteed a rich program!

Evpatoria is a fairly large city, which is why it is divided into 20 parts, but we will consider only the main ones:

  • The resort microdistrict stretches from Lenin Avenue and Gorkovskaya Embankment to Polupanova Street. Here music plays from everywhere, numerous cafes and restaurants open their doors, and housing is the most expensive. It is worth noting that the main tourist flows are concentrated in the Kurortny district of Evpatoria.
  • The Old Town is a historical center that is the pride of local residents. This is where the colorful city market is located, and hundreds of vacationers walk along the streets.
  • The center of Evpatoria is adjacent to the above-mentioned microdistricts. It is here that the railway station is located, from where city guests travel to selected resort hotels.
  • The Moinaki region is famous for the estuary of the same name, the pride of which is mineral waters and more healing than mud.
  • The Perekopsky district is popular because there are a concentration of inexpensive hotels located near the sea.

Holiday season in Evpatoria

You can have an interesting and eventful time in Evpatoria at any time of the year, but still summer is the permanent leader in the number of vacationers. We will consider the features of recreation and weather conditions at different times of the year below.

Holidays in Evpatoria in summer

The beach season at the resort opens at the end of May, but still a large influx of tourists begins in June, when the water temperature warms up to +19-+22°C. In July-August, swimming is no longer refreshing, since the water temperature in the sea is +24-+26°C. As for the air temperature, it varies between +30-+35°C, but the sea breeze makes staying at the resort easier during the hot season. If you are planning a trip to the resort at the end of August, do not miss the opportunity to see a unique phenomenon - the “luminous” sea, because it is during this period that it becomes phosphorused.

Velvet season in Evpatoria

Already in early September, the velvet season, beloved by many, begins. The sweltering heat is gradually subsiding, the sun becomes safer for long-term tanning. Well, swimming in the Black Sea, whose temperature is +21-+22°C, will bring enormous pleasure. Even city beaches, usually crowded with vacationers, are becoming less busy, and one cannot help but rejoice at the falling cost of accommodation at the resort. As a rule, this period lasts from early September to mid-October, but due to weather conditions, minor changes are possible.

Holidays in Evpatoria in spring and autumn

As soon as the beaches close and the air temperature drops, it may seem that resort life comes to a standstill. In fact, this is not entirely true, because people come here for treatment almost all year round. If you come to Evpatoria when the weather does not allow you to spend time on the beaches, you get an excellent opportunity to visit numerous architectural monuments and historical attractions, as well as museums and galleries of various types. We recommend that all those who like this kind of vacation consider hotels in the center of Evpatoria. Spring at the resort begins quite early, it is worth noting that it is rightfully the most beautiful time of the year. Blooming lilacs and acacias complement the already rich air. If we talk about the air temperature, in March it is still cool - about 8°C during the day, while in April and May the thermometer rises to +17-+19°C. Cold autumn at the resort begins only in November, when cold winds blow bright foliage from the trees, forming a beautiful carpet.

Holidays in Evpatoria in winter

If we characterize this period in two words, we can say that winter at the resort is moderately cold. The air temperature during the day is +2--6°C, while at night it drops to 0--3°C. The presence of snow cover is a typical phenomenon for Evpatoria, although the snow remains here for no more than 14 days.
