Open left menu Lloret de Mar. Crazy beach holiday in Lloret de Mar in Spain What to do in Lloret de Mar. Where to go from Lloret de Mar

Spanish resorts are a pleasure that traditionally goes beyond the average price category, but there are also places in this country where you can relax quite decently and at the same time - inexpensively.

Lloret de Mar (another name of the resort in accordance with the norms of the Spanish language - Lloret de Mar) is one of such places. It perfectly combines a mild climate, close proximity to the Mediterranean Sea, picturesque nature, good infrastructure and very reasonable prices.

It is enough to look at the map of the Spanish Mediterranean to be convinced of the validity of this judgment.

The city is located in the very south of the Costa Brava, just on the coastal strip of the northeastern part of Catalonia. This is a real sandy paradise, which greatly softens the harsh rocky terrain here.

We are going to Lloret de Mar - the sandy paradise of Spain

The resort, originally a small trading town with a centuries-old history, received a new impetus in its development in the 90s of the last century, thanks to:

  • climate;
  • extreme convenience of location;
  • coarse sandy beaches.

  • High-speed train (there is no direct train, change to a bus in Blanes, the cost of a trip to Blanes is 15 euros, time is an hour and a quarter).
  • A taxi will, of course, cost more (145-150 euros), but the trip will be much more comfortable, especially if you speak Spanish and can listen to the talkative taxi driver.

City on the map

To make it easier for you to navigate, look at the exact location of Lloret de Mar on a map of Spain:

Lloret de Mar Hotels

There are no pompous, status hotels here - and this is perhaps one of the main differences between the city and other Spanish resorts.

Affordable multi-story “boxes” are mostly rated three stars according to the Spanish classification, but there are also five-star hotels.

Naturally, the cost of living in them is low: depending on the season, it averages about 2,000 rubles per day per person.

The most popular means of accommodation are 3* hotels.

Of course, everyone decides where to stay: if the most important thing for you is the proximity of the sea, then it is better to book apartments in those hotels that are located near the beaches. For example, in the five-star Santa Maria (100 meters from it is the city beach of Santa Cristina).

If music and endless noise outside the windows do not bother you, you can stay in the Grand Hotel Flamingo - it is four-star, and 200 meters from it the Tropics disco thunders with decibels.

All hotels have:

  • restaurants,
  • parking lots,
  • Wi-Fi,
  • car rental service,
  • excursion service.

Why here?

The resort is relatively young, but its popularity is growing all the time, which is greatly facilitated not only by reasonable prices for vacations, but also by the well-developed infrastructure of the city:

  • many shops,
  • shopping centers,
  • restaurants.

Lloret de Mar is especially loved by young people.

The sand of the local beaches has an absolutely fantastic ability not to stick to the skin, and the abundance of nightclubs and discos makes you completely forget about boredom.

There is another, rather piquant, reason for the growing popularity of this Spanish resort. Here, for a Catholic country, same-sex couples in love and simply lovers of flirting are extremely tolerant.

If you love active holidays, adventure and the sea, then choose Lloret de Mar, where there is:

  • Great beaches.
  • Noisy discos.
  • Water parks.
  • Opportunities for good shopping.

Sights of Lloret de Mar

In Lloret de Mar, as in almost every Spanish town, you can see unique historical and entertainment attractions that are popular with tourists.

(Castell d’en Plaja) is not only one of the main attractions of Lloret de Mar, but also in its own way city symbol and identifier. The picturesque castle is the most popular building in the city; it is the one depicted on many postcards of Lloret. Rarely will a tourist pass by the castle without taking beautiful photographs of the attraction. You should definitely climb the mountain path to the castle through Sa Caleta Bay - from here there is a convenient passage to the cliffs of the coast, where a natural observation deck with magnificent views opens up.

Oddly enough, the Castle on the Beach was never a medieval fortification or the property of some Spanish feudal lord. This building was erected just under 100 years ago - the project began in 1935 and was completed only in 1941, when the Civil War ended. Castle house built in neo-Gothic style with all the characteristics of the medieval period commissioned by an industrialist and businessman of Playa Indian origin.

Its construction was not without controversy among neighbors and public outrage, but today it is no longer possible to imagine Lloret de Mar without the Castle on the Beach. The building is made of stone and cement in a rectangular shape with two round towers of different lengths and widths. The doors and windows are ogival in shape, typical of Gothic architecture. It is curious that the construction of this castle inspired Walt Disney to create his own “fantasy land” near Los Angeles - the well-known Disneyland amusement park.

2. Water park "Water World"

Waterpark "Water World" (Parque acuático Water World) in Lloret de Mar is the ideal place to spend an unforgettable day with family or friends. The water park is located on an area of 140 thousand m2 and is considered one of the most popular water parks in Catalonia! In addition to a variety of water slides, the water park includes restaurants, snack bars, picnic areas, and green areas where you can relax and enjoy a pleasant environment.

Of all the attractions that are in the “Water World”, it is worth highlighting: X-treme Mountain (an extreme slide 260 m long), Storm (two huge funnels with a diameter of more than 4 m), a water roller coaster (250 m of ascents and descents), a swimming pool with waves, as well as Kiddy Island and special slides for the little ones. Rafting River is considered one of the best attractions of Water World. This is a 215 m long slide, which you can go down on a special four-seater round boat. Great for the whole family.

A visit to the water park costs 35 euros (20 euros for children). There are discounts when purchasing a ticket for a family: for example, 90 euros when purchasing a ticket for two adults and two children.

(Iglesia de Sant Romà) is another iconic landmark of Lloret de Mar. The amazingly beautiful temple has a rich history and is probably the most recognizable building in the city. The origins of this parish church date back to the 16th century, but today the church continues to play an important role in local life and culture. The striking modernist exterior contrasts sharply with the interior, which surprises with its simplicity, modesty and timeless character.

The Church of San Roma was built in 1522 to replace the old one, Nuestra Señora de las Alegrías, as the city's main church. At the beginning of the 16th century, Lloret de Mar was subject to attacks by Turkish and Algerian pirates, so the new church was created not only as a place of prayer, but also as a refuge during possible attacks. At the beginning of the twentieth century, important restoration work was carried out in the church. When updating the Gothic facade, the architects were inspired by Muslim, Byzantine and Renaissance styles. Unfortunately, much of the structure was damaged in the 1930s during the Civil War, but the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament has survived quite well and can still be visited today.

Tourists admire unique church exterior with colorful mosaics decorating domes and towers. Although the interior of the temple is quite modest compared to the luxurious facade, there are several Venetian-style paintings that are worth paying attention to. Previously they were part of the altar. The Church of San Roma is open every day from 9:30 to 12:00 and from 16:00 to 19:30. One of the best times to visit this temple is the feast of St. Christina, which takes place in July.

Just between the central beach of Lloret and the rocky beach of Cala Banis lies the city's famous work of art and one of the main attractions of Lloret de Mar - the sculpture of Don Marinera (Mujer Marinera). This beautiful bronze sculpture, 2.40 meters high, was erected in 1966 by master Ernest Maragall.

The sculpture was created as tribute to the women of the city who had to wait on land for their husbands from long sea voyages. The right hand of the statue is raised, symbolizing farewell to her husband. And at the same time, her left hand is directed forward with a half-open palm, which symbolizes the desire for his speedy return. Thus, the meaning of the woman’s position is expressed in the words: “Farewell and return.”

The “Sea Lady” is located on a special observation deck, offering stunning views of the sea. Here you can relax on cozy benches, enjoying the pleasant breeze and sea panoramas or taking beautiful photographs. By the way, the place was chosen perfectly: excellent view of both Lloret beach to the north and Cala Banis beach to the south.

There is a small sign associated with the sculpture. If you look at the horizon (in the same direction as the statue), and at the same time touch the right leg of the sculpture with your hand, then the wish you made at that moment should come true.

The Botanical Garden of Saint Clotilde (Jardins de Santa Clotilde) is considered one of the best Mediterranean botanical gardens in Europe. It is located on the outskirts of the city in the mountains. Part of the garden faces the steep cliff of the Mediterranean Sea, which provides unforgettable panoramic views of the sea. The area of the botanical garden is about 15 hectares.

The gardens are characterized by a clear influence of the Italian Renaissance. They were designed in 1919 in harmony with the architectural design of the surrounding area. All paths, walkways and staircases are lined with planted hedges that create stunning green architecture. A visit to the Santa Clotilde Gardens costs 5 euros.

The Museum of the Sea (Museo del Mar) immerses visitors in the history of the city, closely connected with the sea. The museum building is a reference to those desperate sailors who went to American lands to get rich. The Museum of the Sea is located in the house of the Garriga family (Casa Garriga), built at the end of the 19th century and located on the Verdaguer promenade. Around 1860, the Garriga brothers traveled to Cuba, where they created a company producing building materials. Having become rich, they commissioned the construction of a family home in their hometown of Lloret de Mar. In 1981, the mayor's office purchased the house to turn it into a local museum.

The Maritime Museum in Lloret de Mar is more than just a museum. Thanks to modern methods of multimedia and interactive visualization, the museum tells the history of the construction of boats and ships, the extraordinary adventures of sailors, and the courage of those who decided to go on long sea voyages. The museum is divided into five areas with special exhibits: Children of the Sea, The Mediterranean Sea, Sailing the World, Lloret After the Sailing Boats and Beyond the Beach.

Here you will learn about the history of Lloret, starting from the period when the shipyards were just beginning to operate and the sand on the beach was occupied by women who built nets for the men to use for their next fishing trip. In the first half of the 19th century the city experienced a real heyday of the merchant fleet, when such valuable products as cigars, cocoa, rum and expensive mahogany species arrived from overseas. In the second half of the 19th century, the golden era of maritime trade came into decline. A visit to the museum costs 4 euros.

The ruins of the Castle of Sant Joan (Castillo de Sant Joan) are located on the top of the hill that separates the beaches of Lloret and Fenals, at an altitude of 60 meters. One of the oldest defensive castles, it was built in the 11th century: a tower and a chapel, consecrated by Saint John in 1079, rose above its walls. From the original fortification, only the foundation of the fortress, the eastern wall and the restored tower have survived. The castle served a defensive function against attacks from the sea, and due to its strategic location survived more than one catastrophic destruction.

For example, in 1356 the fortress faced an attack by the Genoese fleet. In 1427-1428, the walls of the castle were shaken by strong earthquakes. But the heaviest blow to the fortification was dealt in 1805 during the Napoleonic wars, when several English cannons destroyed the walls and part of the tower. After this, the castle was abandoned and remained unused throughout the 19th century.

It was only in 1949, when the ruins of the San Juan Castle were included in the list of cultural heritage sites, that a decision was made to partially restore the fortress and observation tower. Now tourists can climb the tower by stairs, offering spectacular views of the Mediterranean coast. Entrance to the tower costs 3 euros.

The modernist cemetery of Lloret de Mar (Cementerio Modernista) was designed at the end of the 19th century and built over the next few years. Don’t be confused by the fact that one of the attractions of Lloret de Mar is the cemetery. This is a very interesting and unusual site that offers a broad look at the funerary art of the early 20th century. The cemetery was officially opened on November 2, 1901, after which several famous architects and sculptors presented their work here, including students of the school of the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Here you can walk for a long time along the quiet and slightly depressing streets, looking at the unusual sculptures. There is a small church in the center of the cemetery.

Private investors played a key role in the creation of the cemetery, financing both the overall structure of the cemetery and the tombs themselves. In this regard, it should be noted that at the turn of the 20th century, many “Indians” returned to Lloret de Mar, who earned a gigantic fortune in Latin America and significantly improved their social and financial status. Once home, they commissioned the construction of luxurious residences and mausoleums, demonstrating their wealth and prosperous lifestyle in the "land of life." The cemetery of Lloret de Mar may be one of the most important examples of Catalan funerary art of the modernist period.

But if you come to Lloret de Mar with children, then you should definitely visit the Gnomo Park amusement park. It is built in a Mediterranean pine forest, located on the road from Lloret de Mar to another resort town on the Costa Brava - Blanes.

The theme park is located on an area of 40,000 m2. The main area is the children's playground (Area Infantil), where the about 10 attractions for children of different ages. A subscription for unlimited access to the attractions on the playground costs 9.5 euros. A ticket for 11.5 euros, in addition to the playground, also includes a visit to the trampoline area and the gnome ranch. For 15.5 euros, mini golf and bowl football are added to the ticket. There is a small cafeteria and restaurant on the territory of Gnomo Park.

10. Gran Casino

But among entertainment for adults, it is worth noting the Gran Casino in Lloret de Mar (Gran Casino Costa Brava). This place will help you have a good time and get a dose of excitement, and maybe even win a good amount of money. The Casino has gambling halls with an area of more than 1,500 m2, three restaurants, and a garden with an area of 6,000 m2.

Gran Casino offers classic table games such as blackjack or roulette. For poker fans there are gaming tables, as well as regular poker tournaments. In addition, there are slot machines and table games for visitors, as well as a snack bar and a cocktail bar. Entrance to the casino is 3 euros.

All hotels offer guests comfortable living conditions and impeccable service, including restaurants and bars, parking, car rental, and tour desks.

Features of a holiday in Lloret de Mar

  1. The most popular means of transport in Lloret de Mar is a boat, which is convenient to travel both to different parts of the city and to neighboring cities.
  2. You should not use money changers in hotels, as they usually have unfavorable rates and charge too high a percentage. Specialized exchange offices in the city offer favorable rates.
  3. It is customary to leave a tip of 5-10% for any service. This rule applies to waiters, receptionists, maids, taxi drivers, and guides.
  4. All beaches in Lloret de Mar are municipal, with free entry. Rental of sunbeds and umbrellas, equipment for water activities, catamarans, jet skis, boats and yachts is paid for.
  5. Holidays in Lloret de Mar are considered quite expensive, so many tourists prefer to come there from neighboring coastal cities.
  6. The resort's most expensive hotels are located in the center, despite the constant noise and abundance of illumination. Soundproofing in rooms is usually powerless. On the outskirts there are many decent accommodation options at quite affordable prices.
  7. The distance from the hotel to the beach is indicated in a straight line, but the road may follow inconvenient winding routes with a lot of ups and downs.
  8. You should not carry large amounts of cash with you. Cashless payment systems are widespread everywhere.
  9. Despite its reputation as the noisiest resort on the coast, Lloret de Mar is safe. The police quickly suppress any attempts to break the law and the possibility of turning fun into conflict.
  10. You need to be especially vigilant when relaxing with children, even if they know how to swim. The shallow bottom often suddenly turns into a sharp drop-off with considerable depth.

Lloret de Mar provides its guests with a wealth of all kinds of entertainment, aimed primarily at young people. Along the coastline and in different areas of the city there are dance floors, discos, nightclubs, and casinos, the total number of which has long exceeded 4 hundred.

One of the most popular establishments is the oldest nightclub in the city, Disco Tropics, with giant Platinum and Gold Tropic dance floors that can accommodate more than two thousand people.. There are areas for private parties. Regular customers are offered a discount card worth €12, which provides free entry without queuing for a certain time and a number of equally pleasant bonuses.

Vacationers with children can visit the Water World water park, a gnome park with attractions, a children's pool, trampolines, and go to the karting track, which can be reached by a free bus from the bus station.

Gamblers will have the opportunity to try their luck at the casino, located in the center not far from the bus station. The establishment adheres to a dress code. In swimsuits, shorts and rubber slippers, you may not be able to get inside.

Fans of active recreation will find in Lloret de Mar water sports centers, sports complexes with tennis courts, volleyball and basketball courts, football fields, swimming pools and gyms. Divers will have the chance to get acquainted with the rich underwater world, and surfers will have the chance to ride the crest of a wave. It is possible to rent a kayak, kayak or yacht and sail along the picturesque coastline, indented by bays.

You can go for a few days to Girona or Barcelona, which also offer many interesting attractions and leisure activities.

Especially many interesting shops can be found in the city center. Among them are clothing stores, shoes, lingerie, and perfumes. It is worth paying attention to jewelry stores, where you can choose very high-quality products for yourself and as a gift.

Most fashion stores are located on Sant Pere street. Here you can buy men's and women's clothing from famous Spanish and European brands.

Leather goods stores deserve special attention. Spain is one of the oldest countries in the world specializing in the tanning of leather and the manufacture of all kinds of products from this material. Almost anywhere in the country, including Lloret de Mar, there are shops selling shoes, jackets, gloves, belts, wallets and bags made of magnificent genuine leather of amazing craftsmanship. Resort center of Costa Brava

Lloret de Mar is a party town on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. A developed tourist infrastructure with many bars and discos, picturesque landscapes, well-groomed beaches, and close proximity to Barcelona have made this resort popular among tourists.

“The resort is good. The beaches are clean. Public transport runs regularly. Prices in supermarkets and cafes are low. Set lunch with drink - 10 euros. Table wine in the store - 2-4 euros. Everyone enjoys life and relaxes. Walk down the street even in a swimsuit - no one will look askance.”

Nearest cities and airports

Here are some landmarks with distance:

  • Barcelona - 75 km;
  • Girona - 30 km;
  • French border - 100 km.

Host airports - Girona, Reus.

From the airports you can get to the resort by taxi, rental car, bus or train.

“We chose Lloret de Mar as the starting point on our travels. The only inconvenient thing is that there is no direct train connection to the resort. From Barcelona you need to take a train to Blanes for about 1.5 hours, and then change to a bus and drive another 20 minutes. It’s more convenient to take a direct bus from Barcelona.”

If you would like to travel independently from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar and back, then read our recommendations. You will find a lot of useful information in them and learn what you need to pay attention to while traveling in Spain.

Climate

Lloret de Mar, like the entire Costa Brava, differs from other resorts in Spain in its cooler climate. The tourist season here lasts from May to October, when the thermometer remains at 25-28°C. Comfortable months for swimming in the sea are from the second half of June to the first half of September.

Temperature forecast for the tourist season in Lloret de Mar.

“We always go on holiday at the end of the season. We arrived in Costa Brava in October. Lloret de Mar was already completely empty, which made me feel sad at times. The weather let us down: out of 14 days, only 4 were sunny and hot.”

“We arrived in Lloret de Mar at the beginning of June. It was too early for swimming. So we took a car and took a tour of Spain. We also swam in the sea, but at the end of the vacation, when the water warmed up a little.”

Beaches

The central part of the resort is centered around the long (1.5 km) but narrow (40 m) municipal beach of Lloret. Nearby, the calmer Fenals beach stretches 750 meters along the coast. There are also small beaches Sa Boadella, Santa Christina, Canyelles. All of them are equipped with showers and changing cabins, you can rent a sun lounger and umbrella (5 euros). There are conditions for windsurfing and parasailing here, and pedal boat rentals are available.

There are many vacationers on clean and well-kept beaches.

“The beach has very coarse sand, it is easy to shake off and does not leave dirt. The entry into the sea is smooth, but after 50-100 meters it becomes very deep and a strong current appears. I do not recommend this place to families with children.”

“We often went to Sa Boadella beach. It is small, surrounded by rocks and pine trees. Very beautiful! There are nudists sunbathing at the far end of the beach.”

Sa Boadella beach is surrounded by forest and cliffs.

Rental of property

Lloret de Mar is a budget resort with no frills and luxurious service. Mostly three-star hotels operate here, which are standard buildings with a small area and a swimming pool. You can also rent apartments. Fenals is considered a fashionable area of the city. We invite you to take a virtual walk through its streets.

“The center seemed very noisy to me. And there is nothing there that is worth settling for: no shopping, no attractions, no authentic restaurants. Therefore, we rented an apartment in the new Fenals area on the outskirts. Very neat, quiet, green area with nice buildings. All around are picturesque landscapes, a long embankment, and a pine grove. There are supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. We walked to the center of the resort, about 10-15 minutes.”

Entertainment

One of the favorite places of entertainment for children and adults is the gnome park.

“Lots of cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs everywhere. Prices are very, very affordable, even at the current euro exchange rate. Russian speech is understood everywhere. The restaurants serve delicious food, and almost everywhere there are great deals on set lunches. I liked it at La Parilla. The portions are huge, and they also bring compliments from the establishment. You can go to the Gran Casino for flamenco.”

“Pleasure boats depart from the central beach to neighboring Tossa de Mar, Blanes and back. A round-trip ticket costs 15 euros, the sailing time is about 50 minutes. I advise you to take a trip to Tossa and get acquainted with the flavor of Mediterranean Europe.”

Picturesque Tossa de Mar.

“One of the features of the resort is the largest water park in the Costa Brava, Water World. There are a lot of slides and other water activities for adrenaline junkies. The coolest one is the diving tower. There is a separate playground for children - a whole island. There are cafes and you can sunbathe or have a picnic on the lawns. So I advise you to go and have fun for the whole day. We paid 65 euros for a family ticket (2 adults + child). You can get there by free bus from the bus station.”

Attractions

Tourist, lacking polish and authenticity, Lloret de Mar is, however, proud of its thousand-year history. A small fishing village that has grown into a famous resort has its own treasures.

A 10-minute walk from one of the main beaches of Lloret de Mar is this secluded place - Cala dels Frares.

Castle of Sant Joan

Medieval defensive fortress of the 11th century.

Fortress of Sant Joan.

“Perhaps this is the main architectural attraction and decoration of Lloret de Mar. The castle is built on a hill, with a pedestrian road running along it in the rock. Climb up to take photos and view the wonderful seascape. There is a fee to enter the castle, but there is nothing inside except a spiral staircase. Another symbol of Lloret is the modern private castle Castel d’en Plaj.”

Gardens of Saint Clotilde

National treasure of Catalonia. The Renaissance style garden was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by the Marquis Roviralt in honor of his late wife.

Marble angels in the pond of the Santa Clotilde garden.

Alevtina:

“Be sure to take a walk through the wonderful park. The ticket costs 5 euros, but it will more than pay for itself. By the way, my husband and I were offered a discount at the checkout, taking into account our retirement age. A very well-kept old park with many levels, secluded corners, interesting sculptures, and fountains. It's so nice to escape the midday heat here. From above you get great photos of seascapes. One caveat - the park is on a slope, there are a lot of stairs.”

Statue of Donna Marinerra (fisherwoman)

Bronze sculpture from 1966 by Ernest Maragall. Installed on a rocky hill above the sea in honor of the wives of sailors.

The statue of a woman is imbued with anticipation and concern for those at sea.

Olya:

“Previously, the entire male population of Lloret was engaged in fishing. A very touching sculpture conveys the anxiety and hope with which the sailors’ wives went out to the sea and peered into the horizon.”

Modernist cemetery

The peace of the dead is protected by statues.

“I’ve never visited cemeteries on vacation, but after reading the reviews, I decided to take a look. You could say this is an open-air museum. Monuments on the graves of noble people were made by famous architects. Each tombstone not only contains the name of the person buried, but also indicates the architect or sculptor who designed the burial.”

The Salvador Dali Theater-Museum is a place where all the exhibits evoke conflicting feelings. A place thoroughly saturated with the spirit of adoration and worship of the genius Dali to his muse - his wife Gala.

“I liked two trips most of all - to and to. We got to the museum on our own by bus with a transfer in Girona. To visit the monastery, we first went to Barcelona, and from there by train to Montserrat. Both trips on public transport were very tiring. If finances allow, it’s better to take a tour or a taxi.”

Shopping

“You can’t buy anything in Lloret de Mar except magnets. For brands, it is worth going to the La Rocca Village outlet, which is halfway to Barcelona. This can be done by car or by purchasing an excursion from a tour operator. The operator issues coupons with a ten percent discount and an outlet card.”

“We went shopping in Andorra. We left at 5 am and returned around 9 pm. The bus dropped us off in the capital of the principality, where stores of famous European brands are located. Prices are lower than in Barcelona."

Drawing conclusions

Lloret de Mar resort will receive your positive review if:

  • natural beauty is more important to you than urban architecture;
  • are you ready to save on luxury services;
  • active nightlife is an essential part of your holiday;
  • you plan to travel a lot.

Lloret de Mar from a bird's eye view.

Lloret de Mar is the main resort town on the Spanish Costa Brava, located on the Mediterranean coast of the province of Girona, in the district of La Selva. In general, if you strictly follow the rules of Spanish reading, then the name of the city will sound “Yoret”, since two Spanish “LL” are read as “th”, but since our compatriots know the city called “Lloret de Mar”, then we will speak for clarity.

The peculiarity and unsurpassed beauty of the Costa Brava coast, which means “Coast of the Brave” or “Wild Coast”, is that throughout the entire territory the spurs of the Pyrenees mountains reach the sea itself, and in some places crash into it. Such beauty is simply breathtaking: majestic steep mountain cliffs drop vertically into the sea, somewhere creating cozy bays, protected from winds and strong waves, small romantic islands, and from the shore, pine and juniper groves approach the water. All this gives an indescribable picturesqueness to the local coastal landscapes, which, according to many experienced travelers, make the Costa Brava the most beautiful coast of mainland Spain.

The mountain range of La Selva district is called the Gavarra Mountains, and it is thanks to them that Lloret de Mar is almost not subject to strong winds, and the climate of the resort town and capital of the Costa Brava is extremely mild all year round. Lloret de Mar is part of the Catalan Autonomous Community, and is located in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula. In general, it must be said for those who are going to go to Spanish Catalonia for the first time that the Catalans do not consider themselves Spaniards, they have their own language, they dream of separation from Spain, so God forbid you call a Catalan a Spaniard. Of course, Spanish here, like Catalan, is considered the official language, and you will be understood if you speak it. In Catalonia, all signs and signs are written in two languages; some school subjects are taught in Catalan.

Let's talk about the beaches of the town of Lloret de Mar, there are seven of them. Lloret beach is the main one, the longest one and a half kilometers long, the most crowded beach, due to its location in the very center of the city. It was here that the boats of invaders and pirates used to moor, where seafarers and overseas merchants traded in exotic goods. On the beach, extremely beautiful nature, clean and very coarse sand, sometimes you don’t even know whether it’s sand or small pebbles. The city beach is equipped with everything a fastidious vacationer needs: there are rentals of catamarans, yachts, water skis, there are ticket offices selling tickets for pleasure boats, and thanks to the wonderful transparency and purity of the water, there is excellent diving and excellent parasailing. You can admire the sea directly from the terraces of numerous coastal bars, excellent restaurants, tourists' cars, and there is a large parking lot in the eastern part of the beach. From my own experience, I must say that this beach is not very good for small children, or you need to keep them in sight, as it has a rather sharp descent and becomes deep already a couple of meters from the shore.

The next beach of Lloret de Mar is Fenals. It is located in a cozy and quiet bay, surrounded by rocky capes with green pine trees, there is no wind at all. The length of Fenals is seven hundred meters, and in terms of cleanliness and comfort it is not inferior to the main beach of the city. Fenals is an ideal beach for lovers of a calm and quiet holiday, without hustle and bustle. The water here is crystal clear; it is advisable to enter the sea in special shoes, because the shore is strewn with small shells. The entrance to the sea is steep, deep water immediately begins, you only need to walk two or three meters. On the beach there is also a rental of sun loungers, umbrellas, and entertainment: jet skis, catamarans, boats with sails, water skiing, parasailing, windsurfing. Tourist boats moor at Fenals Beach, where you can take a ride to neighboring towns.

Santa Cristina Beach - “Santa Cristina” - is small and also not crowded. Like all Lloret beaches, it is very clean. It is located between two large hills, in the western part of the city. It is also protected from waves and winds, and its length is half a kilometer. The sand here is clean and white, and the air is filled with a healing pine aroma. On the beach there is a tennis court and parking for cars.

Another beach in the city of Lloret de Mar is Treumal. It is located behind a small passage from Santa Cristina beach. Treumal Beach is a small cove covered with abundant vegetation, which gives it a wild, completely untouched appearance. Huge aloe and cacti hang from the surrounding rocks, and spreading pines grow. The waves on this beach are stronger than on other beaches due to the significant slope of this picturesque bay.

The beach of Sa Boadeia - “Sa Boadella” - is the most beautiful, but its length is only two hundred and fifty meters. There is an atmosphere of calm here, and the landscape is completely undisturbed by human hands. Nudists often sunbathe on this beach. Sa Boadeia beach is protected from the wind by high cliffs and a picturesque forest. And the pure golden sand with crystal clear water contributes to a quiet break from the city noise. There are no standard tourist attractions here, as on other beaches; the only amenities of civilization are showers and a small bar. It is often recommended for families.

Canyelles Beach - stretches over four hundred and fifty meters, it is the furthest from Lloret de Mar, and is surrounded by high cliffs, beautiful vegetation and pine trees. There is a well-equipped, albeit small, port for yachts and boats. And the clean and coarse sand, coupled with clear water and fresh air, attracts both ordinary vacationers and fans of water sports, and those who are just beginning to comprehend the art of steering boats and yachts, catamarans, and canoes. The beach is equipped with awnings, sun loungers, and showers. There are several cozy bars and a restaurant.

The last beach of Lloret de Mar is Sa Caleta Beach - “Sa Caleta” is the smallest, it is located right behind the main city beach, right at the foot of a high picturesque cliff with a medieval-style castle. The beach has golden sand and there are no waves even in very strong winds.

It’s hard to imagine a holiday in Lloret de Mar without beaches. There are a huge variety of them here and they are all of excellent quality. The most famous beaches are the Lloret beach of the same name and Fenals beach. Lloret beach has a length of almost one and a half kilometers. Tourists loved it for its accessibility (you can walk from almost anywhere in the resort), cleanliness, gentle entrance to the sea and opportunities for marine entertainment, including water skiing, catamarans, and parasailing. There are also basketball and volleyball courts, and open-air cafes and bars. This beach is the most crowded, but also provides the most entertainment.

Fenals Beach More suitable for lovers of a quiet, relaxing holiday. The beach is covered with coarse sand, pebbles in places, the entrance to the sea is mostly flat, but there are also some steep cliffs (not dangerous for adults). Holidays on Fenals beach are more suitable for adults than for children. Here you can indulge in underwater activities such as snorkeling or even diving. Equipment can be rented right on the beach. In addition, the beach is equipped with toilets, showers, bars and several cafes, and you can rent sun loungers and umbrellas.

Lesser known beaches of Lloret de Mar are Santa Cristina, Cala Canellas, Boadeia, Caleta, which are also perfect for relaxation. Basically, they are sandy bays, covered with rocks and pine forests; locals like to relax here.
